Solid, but it’s not a guide, really, more of a primer on child development as it pertains to racism. Still lots of good information in here that all parents/people who regularly interact with kids should read. I wouldn’t recommend this one as an audiobook—he reads this like a rally speech, which it kind of is, but it’s 7 hours long and so the cadence loses its power and it’s distracting. Would’ve enjoyed more on paper.

Proud to be raising two antiracist kids in my home as I work on my own antiracism. I love the way Dr. Kendi writes.

Don't be colorblind: talk about race starting at a very young age!
Children start noticing racial differences starting while they are still babies!
Acknowledge and celebrate children's differences! Yes, people look different from each other and that is awesome!
It's important to start pointing out racism when you see it in person or on the news instead of sweeping it under the rug.
Lead your children by example re: friendships with people of different backgrounds, fighting injustice, etc.
Honestly I'm kind of worried about some of the racist ideas my children will be exposed to in school, especially living in an area where people still fly Trump flags- but this book gives a great starting point to help combat that.

Excellent! Ibram X. Kendi does it again! I loved all the practical tips to raising antiracist children and am making a list of the antiracist / multiracial children's books. The stories of his experience growing up with racism and now as a partner and dad were very emotional. If I had to, I would dock 0.5 stars because I felt like in some of the chapters on the earlier years he switches to stats that relate more to the later years, so it made me feel like it was in the wrong chapter.

I thought this book was so great and it gives me a lot to consider as a new parent raising a mostly white male. The theme that resonated with me the most was wanting our kids to think better of people than we did rather than raising them to be like us. I was someone who had a sort of awakening to my own racism, and my hope is now that I know better I can do better for my son.
