4.5 stars! I just started this a mere 2? hours ago, and finished it in one sitting. This was my first book by her, and I understand the hype! This book may be only 234 pages but boy does it pack a punch!

This book was such a fun ride, I really enjoyed it. I will be checking out her backlist for sure asap!

This was a fine thriller from Kiersten Modglin. None of it was terribly shocking - Elias being in love with Wes' wife and trying to drive a wedge between them, Elias being the guy Rory was talking to.

But I did like the idea of a toxic male friendship. I've read a lot of books lately with obsessive female friendships and this was an interesting twist. I just wish it had been purely Elias is gaslight, gatekeep, girlboss -ing Wes lol

It was a fun listen, though!

Yet another, incredible, couldn’t-put-down, novel by Kiersten.

As a whole…this book was silly AF. It gained a half-star ONLY because it was nicely paced and still held an element of suspense. However…

The minute homeboy COMFORTABLY moved in with someone he did not even know, but vaguely remembered from high school, was when I knew I was in trouble. ‘Cause…like, who DOES that??

I was definitely doomed when it became more than obvious that this tired-ass book had the audacity to string me along behind an absurd decade+ long grudge filled with obsession and jealousy. We will NOT speak about how contrived all of this was, either.

Nope. Won’t do it.

DNF it

Usually Modglin's books are 4 stars for me, but this one was 3 1/2. It was a decent read but just a little flat. Wes and his wife Addy are having marital problems, and Wes ends up kicked out of his house. With little disposable income, it's a lucky break when he runs into an old high school acquaintance who offers up his extra bedroom for Wes to stay in as long as he needs to. It doesn't take long, though, before Wes starts finding his new roommate, Elias, to be a strange character, and things start happening that are both inexplicable and frightening. Is Wes losing it or is something going on? It won't take long for him to find out.

Wesley and Addison Gates are on the brink of divorce. Add in overwhelming debt and a demanding career and Wes is struggling! Wes runs into an old classmate who offers a place to stay and this couldn't have happened at a better time

But Wes quickly realizes that moving in with Elias also brings mood swings, strange events and an intrusion on his privacy. Now Wes has to figure out if he will ever be able to leave?

What I loved...
📚 As with every KM novel, this moves at lightning speed and is an easy, quick weekend read

What I didn't love...
📚 As the "Queen of Twists", this offering from KM felt a little underwhelming and predictable.
📚 I didn't quite understand some of Elias' actions... the lying for no reason made him untrustworthy which contradicted his ultimate desire to work his way into Wes' life
📚 Wes and Addy constantly bickering about why their marriage was failing became repetitive and made both characters a bit unlikeable
