This was an interesting read. I borrowed it digitally from the library but I think I need to buy the physical copy. Lots of stuff I kinda speed-read through but mostly I enjoyed it. I want to make a dossier comparing Twin Peaks to the goings on in the little town I grew up in, but I'm so lazy.

A good source of additional information for anyone interested in the wider world of Twin Peaks. I honestly should have read this ages ago.

I read these Twin Peaks books out of order technically, but I don't think that affected my enjoyment. I surprisingly learned a lot of actual history, especially in the first section about the Lewis and Clark expedition and some of information about the real-life projects created to investigate UFOs by the US government. I was frequently googling terms and events to see if they were real, and while everything had a special supernatural twist thrown in, there was a good amount of actual facts. I loved how much of the lore this book expanded on, and how many more questions I still have even after going through so much Twin Peaks content. I noticed a sort of retcon to a couple characters backstories, namely Nadine and Josie. The events that the book describe about these two seem to contradict what was in the original show. I take this as a way to "fix" some of the poor writing in the second season, and I welcome it.
Douglas Milford has been elevated from an extremely minor character to a central part of the mystery. I look forward to a rewatch of The Return with all of this new knowledge swirling in my head.

Design-wise it's really pretty, and the story is quite engaging. Frost takes Twin Peaks history in an unexpected direction and the atmosphere is different than the original show, I think - but it's definitely a prelude to The Return, so for that reason alone it's worth reading if you like the show.

Not a bad side journey in the Twin Peaks story. There are some interesting elements. It only very briefly touches on the murder of Laura Palmer. There is some elaboration on the fate of some characters post the season 2 finale, but more as a setup for season 3 than as any sort of resolution to those events. It delves into a lot of events that happen outside the town of Twin Peaks, which means that elements that do involved characters you know become a little more exciting. Can't wait until we have the commencement of the new series!!

I listened to the audio book and enjoyed the print book. BRILLIANT. The printed book includes powerful images that change in the light. The audio book has narration from Kyle Maclachlan and Michael Horse (just to name a few). If you are a Twin Peaks Superfan like I am. This book is going to knock your socks clean off.
