Excellent read. The Author did a wonderful job with character development, hiding the true villian to the very end. This is great insight into the parallels of parents of special needs/medically complex children and those with nuerotypical children. In the end, we all just love our children deeply.

This book was heartbreaking. Reading Elizabeth’s final chapter was the worst part for me. This was a very well executed book, there’s nothing I can really say negative about the actual writing, plot, or the way the characters were written. I loved Elizabeth and Young. I hated Matt, Jeanine, and at times Pak, and normally I don’t give 3 stars when I feel so strongly about the main characters in a book. I have to take off the two stars though because this book was emotionally draining and not in a cathartic way. It’s entirely possible that I read this at the wrong time and I’ll love it if I revisit it. I am trying to get out of a slump and that may be why I didn’t like it as much as I feel like I should. It may also be that I needed something more uplifting during these times and this book let me down in that regard. I would recommend this to anyone, however, and I’ll definitely revisit it later and see if my opinion changes.

3.5/5 a classic courtroom mystery with a huge cast of messy characters. loved the exploration of motherhood, immigration, and marriage that Kim weaves into this one. the book took a little while to heat up for me, but i was hooked after the halfway point. i love a book full of flawed characters, but the ending of this one was a tiny bit unsatisfying to me.

I loved the different point of views and while sometimes that can get confusing; the author did it in an easy to keep track way. The ending was NOT what i expected, but in a good way.

Angie Kim is just such a talented author and achieves the exact niche of books I adore: thrilling, philosophical, and complex novels that make you really think and grapple with your own beliefs and morals.
In Miracle Creek, we follow the trial of the accused murderer and all the parties involved after a hyperbaric oxygen chamber goes up in flames and claims the lives of people, injuring multiple others. It’s a deeply inter-connected story with compelling characters and morally gray motives that feels painfully real at times.
I love the way that Kim weaves in so many different themes — of language, identity, parenthood, disability, and more — into the lives of so many characters without it feeling aggressive, delivered instead with a tender poignancy.

A fantastic trial story about love in all it's splendor and squalor. Is it really love when the other person doesn't perceive it that way? Is it really love if it hurts you?

A complex weaving of a family courtroom drama. A true testament to the saying that things aren't always as they seem. Fantastic read.
