Not my favorite installment in The Connaghers series. The writing was excellent and the story was intense and just as addictive, I could do anything but put the book down.

My issue? I disliked the heroine. I can't put my thumb on what exactly turned me off her but I couldn't get passed it.

Other that that, this story was done so very well.

So this story was another interesting book to add to this series. I personally would not be into pain but I know that some people might be. I thought the storyline was very well talked about and you learned interesting things about his family.

Funny, sweet, sexy story. Intelligent protagonists who each have their own baggage, but they're able to work through their personal issues like adults. (Adults with flaws, sure, but we all have those.) While Victor and Shiloh's physical relationship is graphically portrayed (with frequent use of the riding crop), what made this work for me with the time and importance they both placed on having honest, respectful communication. I feel like the potential JSB has shown in some of her earlier works is finally being met, which makes me really look forward to reading more by this author in the future.

This wasn't the novel for me. I was expecting something a bit more darker, a bit more psychologically explorative in the realms of the more taboo parts of human desire and sexuality. I was a bit sad to find that this was more of a shallow, too good to be true, love story with the stereotypical characters. The sadomasochistic part of the story just felt like an attempt at putting a new twist on a typical love story.

This novel would work for romantics who are interested in S&M. There's definitely some good information and safe practices that are promoted within the novel. It's an easy read with a feel good ending. It's not meant to challenge your perceptions are shed understanding on the mental workings within BDSM.

So if you want a fluffy S&M love story then this is the novel for you.
