James and Elle are on the roadtrip to start their new lives and pass through the Mojave desert. After rerouting due to a roadblock, their car dies in the middle of nowhere. With no cell phone service, a wandering man with a serious head injury, and now bullets aimed right at them, they have no where to go. A mile away, a sniper has this couple in his sights and is waiting for them to make any wrong move so he can put an end to their lives.

Told from the perspectives of James, Elle, and the mysterious sniper, I honestly expected more from this book. The description pulled me right in and I just thought it was going to be more suspenseful and heart-pumping than it ended up being. There was a serious lack of motivation for the sniper to be doing this, and more than a handful of words that I find derogatory that made this an “eh” read. Also the ending was lackluster…. This may be the first book of 2024 that I would not recommend.

Wow! I didn't want to put this book down. I read No Exit! also and that was a wild ride as well. There were a few problems though. He used a lot of metaphors that were sometimes a little distracting. The plot is pretty implausible and hard to believe that someone could get away with murdering so many people in that particular way.

I do like reading about a character who beats the odds, however.

Suspenseful, heart racing, terrifying - all at once.

I’m not always a huge fan of books which take place over a very short time span because they either stress me out or I feel as though I’m the one looking at the clock thinking “hurry up already”
This book leaned more towards the “hurry up already” side. I absolutely LOVED the book No Exit by the same author and perhaps because I loved it so much I might have had high expectations.
This book isn’t bad. It’s well written, flows nicely and is an easy read but it lacked the stress and tension I thought it would have. My husband read this book before me and comparing notes afterwards, he felt the same.
I also had a hard time envisioning all the McGyvered things they did

Taylor Adams is truly a FORCE in the action thriller genre. His books would make outstanding films. They are so action packed and exciting. Eyeshot was short in comparison to a lot of books but the characters each had their own personalities and the story never found a lull. I will admit the ending was a tad fast but then again everything happened fast in this book. Most of the story takes place in about a 6-hour window. Adams’ concepts are brilliant and he executes them wonderfully. I can’t WAIT to see what’s next from him.

This was a solid 3 star read for me. I didn’t love it but it was a good read. I did find some points slightly repetitive (in my opinion!) but overall it was fun, fast paced and thrilling!

Wow, what a brilliant debut novel.
Although the book focused on a an event that encompassed only a few hours and a few characters, the suspense build-up was absolutely brilliant.

The flash-back character development was carried out brilliantly, too a point where I was definitely emotionally invested. Not to mention that the ending was played out exceptionally well.

I look forward to your new editions.
