For those who love the Palahniuk style this is perfection. The short stories range from the laughably strange to just plain weird, some truly twisted. Think pretzels. Yet throughout the twists, there is a sense of that Fight Club underbelly that make his books so delicious.

In a word, demented.

Reviewing Palahniuk is so problematic, because he doesn't write stories for one to "like". He writes stories that challenge one's perceptions of reality, of norms, of decency, of morality. I've always thought that reading Palahniuk is the equivalent of slowing down for a horrible car wreck on the freeway. As a writer, he is exceptional, but these stories, for me, were particularly rough and I will admit that I didn't/couldn't finish. That being said, I may be in the mood to return to them in the future.
