This book follows a good girl and bad boy who begin to fake date to annoy her parents. This is my first book by Moore and it won’t be my last. I really enjoyed the storyline of this book especially as I always dig for a hockey romance. The pacing was great for this book, and I enjoyed the New Orleans setting. The author focused perfectly on the two conflicts, one for each MC so that the story is not overwhelming. I loved the healing process and the growth throughout this book. This book is told from both Lennon and Saint’s pov.
Lennon has been pleasing her parents for so long and now she wants to follow her path. I loved her character and seeing how brave she is. Especially with parents who don’t care for her personally but for her reputation. Then we have bad boy, Saint, who is heads over heels once he gets close to Lennon. However, he faces his abusive dad at home. I loved his character and seeing him love. Both of these characters grew so much. There are many side characters but the MCs had their spotlight. The romance is good girl x bad boy, enemies to lovers and fake dating. It’s steamy and so cute.
Now for the ending, I have to say that it felt rushed and that it ended abruptly. It just felt that there should have been more. Overall, I really enjoyed this book and I am excited to read the next book in this series.
*this e-arc was sent to me by the publisher to give an honest review in return*
Oh I love me an enemies to lovers add in the fact that this is a sports romance…I’m on my knees.
Saint is the bad boy on campus, he’s hot and he knows it. He doesn’t care what anyone thinks he just does what he wants. He doesn’t do relationships and certainly doesn’t do repeats but behind this tough exterior there’s more than meets the eye.
Lennon is a good girl and has lived a life of luxury, when she finds her boyfriend cheating she’s had enough and things begin to change for her. Other things become more important and the rich lifestyle takes a back burner. When she’s finally back on the ice she finally feels happy but that comes to a sudden halt when she realises her ice time has to be shared, shared with the arrogant hockey guy who thinks he’s better than everyone.
Saint and Lennon together are utterly perfect. They argue like nobodies business, they fight, they bicker but they also bring out the best in each other. Being able to watch each of these characters develop throughout the book has been so wonderful.
There’s parts in the book that make your heart ache, makes you want to reach in and grab the character and give them a big hug, they go through something nobody should have to go through and it’s truly sad to see the way it affects them.
Maren Moore did amazing brining these characters and their story to life. I think this is my first read from this author but now I have to go check out some of the other books because I enjoyed this one so much.
The Bad Boy Rule is a fun enemies to lovers sports romance. It’s an addicting story that’ll leave you wanting to know what’s going to happen next. It’s cute, it’s HOT and definitely worth a read.

My Rating: ❤️❤️❤️❤️.5
In Short: Cute, spicy, adorable, fun, and charming read.
General Thoughts: I have read quite a few Maren Moore books by now, and I have loved all of them. They all have been so good. This was no different. I love how Maren writes her books and approaches her characters and stories. She always weaves in so many layers to her characters, and I really appreciate that. This was a fun hockey-lite, dislike-to-love, fake-dating college story that I flew through. If you've been sleeping on Maren's books, definitely give them a go. Not only does she have the funnest titles and cutest covers, but she's a great writer. Bump this one up your TBR list. I received a review copy for free and am leaving this review voluntarily. Thanks to the author and Valentine PR.

The Bad Boy Rule is the first book in the Hellcats Hockey series, following Saint Devereaux and Lennon Rousseau. Saint is a tough, tattooed hockey player with a complicated and heartbreaking past. He’s been through a lot and tries hard not to let people in. Lennon is a rich girl who’s always followed the rules, but now she’s ready to take control of her own life. When they end up sharing ice time by mistake, things get interesting fast. Although they are complete opposites and can't seem to stand each other, they enter into a mutually beneficial fake dating plan. Lennon hopes that pretending to date someone her family won't approve of will help her stand up to them. Saint has a revenge plan in the works and feels Lennon is the key to making it all happen.
As they spend more time together, their relationship quickly turns into something real. Lennon and Saint have great chemistry from the start, and I loved their banter. This is an emotional read with sizzling tension and some really heartfelt moments. I enjoyed witnessing the character growth. Lennon found her voice, and Saint learned to be vulnerable and emotionally open. I loved how Lennon and Saint helped each other heal. They support each other and are protective of each other's hearts. I couldn't help but root for their happiness. The Bad Boy Rule is a great start to this new series, and I can't wait to see what comes next.

I loved everything about this book. It’s my first by Maren Moore and if this is the standard I’m going to need to read her backlist.
Lennon and Saint were exactly the kind of couple I want to read about. The bad boy who secretly loves hard and is loyal to a fault. The good girl who is slowly starting to spread her wings and knows how to stand up for herself. I love it when the FMC is feisty and strong and takes no shit.
Watching Saint opening up piece by piece to Lennon was so satisfying. He deserved to have someone in his corner because let’s face it his parents were terrible. Even though he never blamed his mum which is why I actually loved him even more.
This was fantastic. Saint is new book boyfriend material.
Thank you to VPR for the arc and this is my honest review.

***ARC Review***
The Bad Boy Rule by Maren Moore
OUT NOW & on Kindle Unlimited!
I'll tell you right now, Maren does not miss! She knows how to pack a lot of amazing spice into a story while also filling it with so much heart and humor.
Saint Devereaux is hot hot HOT, Lennon is a secret spitfire, and the chemistry between the two is electric!
Saint Devereaux is an Orleans University hockey player, major playboy, and overall Bad Boy. He doesn't let anyone get to know him, and he never messes with the same girl twice.
Lennon Rousseau is a lifelong Good Girl looking for a bit of freedom and control over her life.
When there's a mix-up with the schedule for the campus ice rink, Lennon and Saint have to share their hour or give up their ice time altogether. The two butt heads immediately, as Saint assumes Lennon is a stuck-up, rich princess and Lennon thinks Saint is just a broody, playboy A-hole. They're quick to become enemies, and their sparring and bantering were top notch!
But, when Lennon wants to piss off her father and prove a point, she makes a deal with Saint that if he'll pretend to be her boyfriend at a few fancy functions with her father, she'll give him the ice time next semester. Who better to horrify and embarrass her father with than the hulking, tattooed, blue collar hockey player with a dirty mouth?
As the two spend more time together, they grow closer, and learn that the assumptions they'd made about each other were wrong, and there's so much more to both of them than meets the eye.
There are some very serious and deeply emotional moments in this book! I wasn't sure I would come around to Saint at the beginning of the story, but I definitely did! He was secretly sweet, caring, and hardworking, with a tragic backstory. And the MOUTH on the man!! 🥵 These two were burning me up once the slow burn went ablaze!
Besides the main relationship, there were some great relationships in this story! Lennon's bestie and roommate Maisie was so much fun and an amazing hype girl, and Saint's relationship with his boss/mentor Tommy was truly special. I'm looking forward to what comes next for Hellcats Hockey!

I read an advanced copy of this book, and this is my honest review. Thank you to Maren Moore and Valentine Pr for the ARC!
There’s a quote in this book that pretty much describes how I feel about the whole thing- “That should not be as hot as it is. It shouldn’t, but it totally is.” This book was a lot of fun, despite some of the heavier stuff going on. It gave what I needed it to, once I got through the slow ish beginning. But there is a LOT going on for a relatively short book. It starts out with a tale as old as time, figure skater girl ends up having to share the ice with hockey player boy. He’s cocky and rude, and she immediately despises him. I thought her reaction to him was a little extreme, but I guess with her being as prim and proper as she was, she was probably completely put off by him. The first 10 chapters or so were slow to me. It’s just them back and worth at the rink. They aren’t even fake dating at this point. I was just kind of waiting for something to happen. Also let me just say the Golden Girl nickname? Did not do it for me. Was not a fan. If you’re someone who likes a lot of hockey in your hockey romances, you won’t find it here. Saint has so much going on outside of school, I have no idea how he even has time for hockey. And normally you get a ton of found family in sports romances, we didn’t get much of that here. We meet a few of their friends a handful of times, but not enough to really learn anything about them. Basically there is very little classic hockey romance actually in this book. This book finally picked up for me once they started being friendlier and he realized she had a little thing for him. Maren is always good for some steam and she delivers here. There’s just something about the bad boy / innocent girl trope and despite the beginning, it’s goooood here. Especially when you originally think Saint is a terrible guy, but realize he does in fact have a conscience and he does care for Lennon. I had no idea how this book was going to end, but it was absolute chaos. Way more drama than I was expecting to ever happen. Overall, my review is a little confusing because my thoughts on the book are confusing. This book had so much and so little going on, but for whatever reason, I had a great time reading it LOL. I pretty much enjoyed this book for the vibes. Thanks so much to Valentine PR and the author for the ARC!
