Fun take on yet another Dracula story with a Rapunzel twist. Intriguing yes? With a steampunk setting. It was really quite fun and enjoyable!

Hazel and Sam set off on a long journey, from London to Romania, at the request of Hazel's long lost uncle in order to help save a sister she didn't even know existed.

I really enjoyed the first two books in this series, so had high expectations for this one. The Lady in the Coppergate Tower had an interesting premise, but the storytelling fell flat for me. It seemed like it was a whole book where very little happened. There was little character development, and I really didn't care much about them. The plot, which could have been very interesting, ended up feeling rather bland.

The best part of the book was the automaton, Eugene. He was funny and added some interest to an otherwise kinda meh story.

I enjoyed this one more than the second one (this is the third book in the series), and probably as much (or almost as much) as the first. I got quite invested in the story. It drives me a little bit crazy when characters keep denying that the other person could ever possibly have feelings for them when it is so glaringly obvious that they do, but so go romance stories.

Overall, I thought this was a very good read. It’s quite clean—only a few kisses, even. There is definitely some adventure and creepiness/violence, but nothing that I felt crossed the line. I felt like Hazel, the main character, had a different personality than was briefly presented in the 1st book, but it lined up with her brief appearance in the 2nd book. I prefer this Hazel to the Hazel of my initial impression from book 1.

Once again, Nancy Campbell Allen did NOT disappoint! This book was thrilling to read and left me feeling oh so satisfied when I finally finished it (in less than 24 hours...) So let's jump right into the things I loved!

To start, there was fantastic characterization. The author did a fantastic job creating villains that you love to hate, and main characters that you just swoon over. Hazel was a very relatable character with her self-doubts and small quirks, and it was wonderful to watch her grow into herself. And Sam, though rather too perfect, was funny, intelligent, and handsome--a rather formidable combination. Their romance was so sweet and I absolutely loved that it was built off a solid friendship. Additionally, there weren't major miscommunications in their love for one another keeping the two apart, something that is always preferable. In fact, at times I felt like the romance took a backseat to the fantastic plot line.

From the second I picked up this book, I could hardly put it down not only because of the romance, but largely because of the exciting plot line that Allen wove for the reader. It was a highly entertaining take on the story of Rapunzel, with fun little facets from the original sprinkled throughout. I was sucked into the story and enjoyed every little discovery and roadblock that the characters encountered. Honestly, the only thing I did not love about this book was the cover-- I didn't feel it portrayed the characters in the best way.

I'm already looking forward to the next book in the series, and cannot wait to see who's story we get to read about next! Oh and P.S. I loved Sam's automaton and could not get enough of him!

A big thank you to NetGalley for an advanced copy of this book.

Loved this third book in the Steampunk Proper Romance series! These stories are based on fairytales and this story is no different. This is a steampunk twist on the story of Rapunzel. There is magic, automatons, and of course romance. The story is compelling and hard to put down. The character of Sam is definitely swoon worthy and Hazel is an enjoyable heroine. Looking forward to the next book in the series!

I love how Campbell mixes steampunk fantasy with proper romance and somehow makes it believable and entertaining! As someone who reads their fair share of these two genres this series of books has yet to disappoint me and The Lady in the Copper Gate tower is probably my favorite of the 3! I would definitely read these in order as there are many backstories and friendships described from the other books. I love the use of technological advancement and the automatons which bring out a side of humor and intrigue (especially in this third book). If you’ve heard the story of Rapunzel then you’ll be somewhat familiar with what happens in the book yet it is a story all its own. These are a lot of fun and if your looking to pick up something a little bit different and enjoy the regency period then these book are definitely worth the try!
