Thanks Netgalley for a copy to read and review. This review is given as my honest opinion.

This is basically a rewrite of a previously published book, and it has an amazing cover. Hawt! The blurb is what caught my eye, and stole my interest. I have read many by this author and this book was pretty great.

Cassie Gambol heads to Petal, Georgia to start a new life after an ex husband almost ends her. Under a new name she enters Petal only to be in a car accident first thing. Shane Chase the local officer of the law is one of the first on the scene since its his mother that rear ends Cassie.
Instantly he knows Cassie is trouble, and scared or running from something. As time goes on though he realizes his attraction to her and his huge family slowly taking her in as one of there own.

I enjoyed the book, and gave it four stars of entertainment. Cassie made a good character and Shane was kind of pushy more often than not. They seemed to butt heads a lot but eventually they're love for each other holds out. Thanks Netgalley for a copy.

Taking Chase is a book I've read a few times, but not for a number of years. And so when I saw Lauren Dane had refreshed and rereleased this series I decided to pick up this particular story. As for some reason it's not one I originally purchased in Kindle format.

And I'm glad I did. As it reminded me what a great story this is, and I thought the changes Lauren Dane made although subtle worked well. Plus, the Chase brothers Shane, Kyle, Matt and Marc are all really great, and I thought Cassie was perfect for Shane. As she doesn't take any of his crap. But is also a strong, resilient and a brave female lead character. Who is slowly rebuilding her life after surviving and escaping her controlling and abusive ex husband. And I really enjoyed the development of their relationship and the feeling of family this story has to offer.

And I would happily recommend Taking Chase to others.

This book was written so much better than the first one. The dialogue still seems a little over the top, but the story flowed so much better.

I knew I was going to love this book as soon as I picked it up. I immediately loved the heroine Cassie. She is such a strong, beautiful, individual. She is so easily loved. Now Shane Chase, he took some time for me to like. I didn’t particularly like him in the first book, he was an asshat. This book thought we saw a different side of Shane. While he did have that alpha, asshat, dominated way, he was so soft and sweet with Cassie. I love male leads that that.
I loved the tension leading up to the climax. The climax was so good in this book. It’s no surprise that Shane was a player in the first book, he had a line of women waiting for him. We saw a few of them in the first book. I thought it was strange how they didn’t try to fight Cassie for Shane, or try to ruin there relationship. We get a glimpse at it but it was almost a afterthought. Besides that, this book had everything steam, emotion, humour, and action. What more could you want. Can’t wait to read the rest of this series.

I am really enjoying this Chase Brothers series,

We first met Shane in book 1, and I have to say, he was quick an ass in that one.

I liked how we got to see deeper than the arrogant womaniser we met in the first book.

Cassie turns his head the minute she moves into town, and he doesn't want it any other way.

I adored Cassie - stronger than she thinks she is after all she has been through, but I could completely understand her hesitance around not just Shane but men in general.

Shane's mother is a hoot, and I love the banter between all the Chase Brothers and their women and friends around them.

At times I felt that the story was a little bit rushed, but not so bad that it took too much away from enjoying the story.

Now I need to get onto the next book.

Cassie Gambol's first view of Petal, Georgia is brief before she is rear ended by speedy gonzales whose hair is a creation unlike she has ever seen before. Sheriff Shane Chase can't believe his mother is involved in yet another accident, but her current victim has left the commitment phobe man speechless.

Shane knows Cassie is hiding something and like any good cop he plans to fall out what. Of course he also has planned to woo her until he wins her over at the same time. Shane never planned to let someone claim his heart again, but every second he spends with Cassie has him willingly handing it over to her.

As things begin to look up, Cassie's past comes to haunt her and Shane has no intention of letting it catch up to her.

Wow...huge sigh. I am trying to put reviews with all the books I have read and this was one of them I never wrote up. I think out of this series, this is my favorite. Shane is deliciously manly like a fine steak and a good glass of wine, you can't stop after one bite.

**Reread, I had just read the third in series and I wanted to reread Shane's story. Great read.

I didn't enjoy this book as much as the previous. Although I understood (as much as a person can w/o actually experiencing something) the issues and insecurities the heroine had, she drove me nuts. I thought for sure it would be the hero that would annoy me, but nope. I actually adored him. The story itself was good and I liked visiting the town of Petal again, but I wasn't super impressed with this one. Even so, I can't wait to start the next.
