Step aboard The Fortuna and journey along with Captain Flint and Violet as they battle the seas, pirates, and each other! Look out for the mysterious Le Chat!

I Kissed an Earl, book four in the Pennyroyal Green series by Julie Anne Long, is my favorite of the series so far! I love Violet and Flint! Their banter, adventure, and romance on the high seas! Everything is awesome!

Violet Redmond is devoted to her family and determined to find her missing brother. Captain Asher Flint, the new Earl of Ardmay, is on a mission to capture the pirate called Le Chat. In search of her brother, Violet stows away on the captain's ship. The captain is not happy upon his discovery of the stowaway, but despite his displeasure, Flint is enchanted by Violet's resourcefulness and her love for her family. Violet is such a strong-willed and clever character, but Flint has no problem matching her every move. They complement each other so well! I admire Julie's ability to craft the perfect partner for each hero and heroine.

The excitement of an adventure and romance on the seas was pouring out of this book! I loved their competitions for the captain's quarters. Witty banter is my favorite, and the verbal sparring between Flint and Violet is some of the best I've ever read! It causes some intensely steamy tension between the two and practically sets the pages on fire!

This book was absolutely amazing. I am only going to write a few lines for my review. Somehow my original review is completely gone from my Goodreads. I don't know how... so everything I had written is now gone. And I'm totally not going to try and rewrite a whole review. Especially after so many months have passed! But this book was really wonderful. It had so much sexiness and steam, but also so much depth and character development. Lyon Redmond also plays a significant role in this one. Which kind of made me more emotional and definitely made me love the book even more! And Violet's moment where she saves Asher was totally a "Hell Yeah!" *throws fist in the air* moment! This book was without a doubt a great read and such a fun, romantic, beautiful adventure!

I nearly DNF this book because I was SO bored. But in the end I definitely would have kissed this Earl. Swoon. The premise is that the heroin finds herself on a ship with hot hero in a quest for her brother who went missing the year before. The hero is also looking for her brother - but so he can send him to the gallows. I kept going with the book because I'd just come off inhaling a fantasy/romance series and needed some 'easy' reading. ANYWAY. It definitely got better as the book continued and towards the end I couldn't put it down. But there wasn't really a lot of character development for Asher - we didn't get into his head at all. I could have bumped it up a star for thay because their romance was good and steamy and exactly what I needed. In the end their relationship came to a conclusion ridiculously fast. He just emphatically gave up his adventurous life. Not sure I got it.

If you loved "The Other Miss Bridgerton" by Julia Quinn then you'll love this swashbuckling high seas adventure!

Violet Redmond is...underestimulated by ton life. The parties, gossip, and watchful eyes waiting for her next outrageous moment are all mundane. But when the savagely handsome sea captain turned Earl of Ardmay mistakes her brother Jonathan for an infamous pirate well, things finally get interesting. Even more so when she discovers that said pirate allegedly captain a ship named "The Olivia."

A year ago her eldest brother Lyon disappeared after notoriously having his heart broken by Olivia Eversea. The coincidences are too harmonious to ignore and Violet stows herself away on the Earl's ship determined to unravel the mystery.

Captain Earl is less than pleased to discover his newest passenger especially since he's been tasked by the king to capture the man who may or may not be her brother.

As they embark on their conflicting quests the questions dear reader, begin to arise. Will Violet find Lyon before he is captured? Has Lyon truly turned to a life of crime? And why is sparring with Captain Earl (the only man who's ever dared to manage her) the most alive she's ever felt?

I binge read this book curled up in bed after my second covid shot. Let me just say, a forced proximity romance with literal pirates was the best way to spend my 24ish hours as an invalid. Violet was introduced in an earlier book and I was already so excited to read her story.

Now, I love a good dance a ballroom waltz and then ruin me in the garden regency romance, but there is just something so spectacular about a regency adventure.

Violet was made for something more than ton life and loved to see how her impulse to stowaway changed the course of her destiny. The relationship between her and Captain Earl had such depth because it was built outside the confines of society and there were moments where they truly had to risk their lives for each other. Per usual Julie Anne Long's biting and hilarious wit makes its appearance (it wouldn't be a Pennyroyal Green book without it!) I can't say much else other than I loved it and I recommend you read the entire series!

If you're in the mood for a spicy romantic adventure this one is for you!

This series is so bonkers and I love it for that. Once I got past the fact that she stowed away on a ship, and wasn't immediately tossed off at the nearest port, it was entertaining fun. And, as a friend said, full of inappropriately timed sex.

This is my 4th read of this installment in the Pennyroyal Green series. I gleaned so much from this reread! I have a healthy new respect for Violet and I love Asher.

Formulating my thoughts. Full review to come with some of my favorite quotes
