This book is a cozy warm hug that still has plot, humor, and romance set in a magical world. You do not have to have read the other book in the series in order to also love this one, but reading The Spellshop first does give you good background for a general understanding of the universe and magic systems.

Highly recommend.

I LOVED The Spellshop so I was excited for this book, which takes place in the same universe. While it took a bit longer to get into than her first novel, I wound up loving it and being sad when it was over. Highly recommend!

Okay, so, it felt like the first 30% was a slog. And it felt so different from the first book that I considered briefly DNFing it. the next 30% I could feel the easy ramping up and I began enjoying it a lot more. By the end I was smiling and enjoying every second. What a beautiful story and a lovely ending. Im so happy I held on because it was all worth it in the end, which, I actually believe is also how the FMC felt. 💛

After “The Spellshop,” this was everything I hoped it would be. Sweet, cozy fantasy. I loved every minute of it.

The worldbuilding of The Enchanted Greenhouse is great. All the greenhouses are connected and have the perfect biome for different types of plants, both real and fantasy. Access to every kind of fruits and vegetables year-round also results in a lot of delicious food descriptions. A librarian self-teaching herself magic is just as enjoyable as it was in The Spellshop.

Unfortunately the characters don't especially interest me. Terlu is the "sunshine" archetype, keeping up a steady stream of dialogue and internal thoughts throughout. Yarrow is the "grumpy" archetype, although he does produce all the yummy food so I like him better. There's also a high-strung sentient flower whose voice made me wish I had the ebook instead.

Great for enjoyers of the grumpy-sunshine dynamic, not so much for the rest of us.

Thank you Netgalley for the audio ARC.

I won the audiobook edition of this book from the Macmillan Audio StoryGraph giveaway, so thank you for the chance to listen to this wonderful story!

I absolutely adored the whimsical setting of this book and the flawed -but compelling- cast of characters. This story follows a fugitive librarian, Terlu, who finds herself at the magic greenhouse. There she meets Yarrow and stumbled into multiple magical misadventures. During this time Terlu also begins to break through Yarrow’s many walls and the two get to know each other. It’s sweet, funny, and also deals with a lot of trauma surrounding betrayal and abandonment. Despite some heavy topics, this book maintains a fairly positive tone and also weaves in the wonderment of magic and healing. Side note - I will need to make honey cake now. Overall, this was a sweet and cozy fantasy book with a dash of romance (no spice). Definitely a comfort read, and perfect for a snowy day with a slice of cake and a cup of tea!

I was completely enchanted by "The Enchanted Greenhouse"! I loved every cozy page and all the sentient plants! If this book was sentient, I'm sure it would give lots of warm hugs because that's how it felt reading it. The author mentioned that her goal in writing this book was to offer a sense of hope, a light in the darkness, and she definitely did just that.

Thank you to Macmillan Audio for the ALC of The Enchanted Greenhouse by Sarah Beth Durst. All opinions are my own.

Last year I read and enjoyed The Spellshop by this same author. While these two books are set in the same world, they follow different characters in different settings. Some characters from The Spellshop are mentioned in this book, but it’s brief. You can read these books out of order and still enjoy them.

The Enchanted Greenhouse is a cozy fantasy with a relaxing and sweet tone. The characters are wholesome, the romance is sweet, and the found family is so precious. I had an overall lovely time reading this book.

If you’re a plant lover, I think you’ll love this story. There are sentient plants with fun personalities. There’s a gardener as one of the main characters, and the protagonist is working along side him to save the plants and their greenhouses.

The romance was so sweet and vulnerable. I loved how the characters became friends and were shy about sharing their feelings with each other. They really looked out for one another, and I appreciated how kind both of them were.

This is the type of story that is feel good and lighthearted while also discussing harder topics such as loneliness and giving second chances to people who’ve hurt you. Overall, I thought this book was great and would recommend it!

Also, I listened to the audiobook and thought the narrator did an excellent job with distinguishing the different characters’ voices. I would recommend this format.
