I absolutely loved the Scarlet Veil and I'm just gutted I could not finish S&D series. I didn't like any of the characters and the plot was just so boring. Nothing kept my attention at all.
Would recommend people read Scarlet Veil though! It's a continuation of S&D but you don't really need to read it to understand what's going on.

No words, only disappointment.

I don’t know what to even say, this book series was SO AMAZING! Every book was a 5 ⭐️ and the books (in my opinion) got better as the series went on!
I loved our characters, the plot twists were phenomenal, and I cannot believe I left these books sit on my shelf for so long. These books are GOD tier now and will sit next to my other fav books too!
ansel’s epilogue broke me, the wedding was beautiful and I love how they honored ansel even when he no longer could be seen, he still was so proud of them. I may never recover from how good this series is 😭❤️

DNF at 19%

Unfortunately I no longer connect with these characters. I think the second book really did this series dirty. I find myself pushing through what chapters I am reading and don’t wish to continue. I may try this series again later but for now it is a DNF

Link to Lucy Tonks review because she can somehow put my feelings into words when I can't

I still don't know how to rate this book and I finished it like a month ago. What I can say is that in my opinion this trilogy should have been a duology.
The pacing in Gods & Monsters was just off. Some parts were dragged out so much I got bored listening to the audio book while others were so fast paced I couldn't keep up and some details got missing. Such a shame.

I liked some parts, it wasn't all bad, just way too fucking long.

The epilog also felt really forced to me. It's just not my type of ending and I think the book could have done without it :/

4,5⭐️

Look: I loved the first book in this trilogy. So much so that I eagerly awaited the second, just to be left severely disappointed by the end of it. I contemplated not reading this third and final book in the series, because of how bummed out I was about where/how these characters were left at the end of book two. But, I eventually decided I should give it a shot. I’m glad I did.

The beginning of the book was a little grueling. We pick up right where we left off from book two, and like I said that wasn’t my favorite spot. The plot felt a little clunky as the characters continued on their quest. At times I felt a little confused by all the different witch groups, separate clans of mythical beings, and of course the divided groups of humans.

But, as I continued reading I started to enjoy the story of how our beloved main characters find their way back to who they really are, more traumatized now, but also more deeply rooted in their love for one another than ever before.

Also, I felt we finally got character development for Célie, no longer dooming her to traumatized over privileged brat who exists to push the plot.

The second half of this book made it all worth it, and I even started to appreciate some of the ground work laid in book two, though I do not completely forgive it.
If you loved book one you mind as well read this one, what else have you got to do?
