I really enjoyed the first book so I was so hopeful for this one!

The plot didn't advance much, and when it was progressing, it was hard to follow. The flashbacks were confusing and the alternate POV wasn't used enough to be effective, I often forgot that I was reading from another perspective.

The chemistry between Adrian and Isolde is gone, all they do is argue and sleep together.
Isolde becoming a shifter feels unplanned
The whole thing in general just felt different, the vibe is off.

That being said, I do look forward to the next book, I am hopeful for Isolde and Adrian and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they can reignite their spark and at least have somewhat of a happy ending.

For me this was more of a back story book that really got you connected with the characters and their traumas with some sprinkles of happy moments and spicy scenes. While also showcasing how the character navigate through the traumas even in times of strife. I will be waiting in anticipation for book 3.

The book is a mess. Maybe book 1 was the same and I was just in a different mood. Big reveals feel rushed/abrupt with basically no payoff, shoved in awkwardly between info dumps, flashbacks, and so many sex scenes. These two are ready to bang any time, even if it doesn't make sense at all, even if they were sad or at odds 30 seconds ago. Did Scarlett had a sex scene quota she needed to hit? I was saying "girl, seriously??" out loud. There are three or four chapters from Adrian's perspective that don't need to be. The magic system and the goddesses get more confusing rather than less, especially at the end.

Maybe there are some cool concepts in here but they're poorly executed, which for me sucked all the enjoyment out of the reading experience.

This was such a compelling sequel in my opinion. It was very good. There was a bit of over used vocabulary toward the end, such as "devastated" and "murdered" which I believe were intended to evoke strong emotion, but eventually lost all meaning due to over use. Beyond that, I don't really have any complaints.

well, disappointed but no surprised. i found the first book interesting enough but this was insufferable. i cannot stand adrian as a character and i felt like so much of this book was pointless.

the smut was so repetitive and at times, distasteful. immediate smut after a seemingly important character death made me want to slam my head against a wall.

another issue i have with this book is the odd transitions from past memories to present. i get that we are supposed to be sorta experiencing the past memories as isolde is but there was no indication that the time had changed often times and i had to reread multiple paragraphs to understand what was going on.

also i felt that as soon as the plot started moving we got another smut scene for literally no reason.

also cannot understand nearly any of adrian’s motivations…

ngl perhaps ana and sorin are right that adrian dying would be the best thing that could happen for the world at large.

Hmmm. I feel like it was missing something, it could be that there was not much going on for a large part of the book. It could also be that plot twist at the end too.

Queen of Myth & Monsters is a unique idea. Isolde’s development of her abilities is a smooth transition, however I wish her relationship with Adrian would move beyond miserable communication. He’s an asshole, she’s a bitch. We get it.
