I’m not sure I could add anything to the conversation about this amazing book that hasn’t been said. I am kicking myself for not starting it earlier that’s for sure. It held me in its grasp and wouldn’t let me go the whole time I was reading.

There are some really amazing characters in this book. Emmet is the main character that we follow throughout this book, he is picked we think from the beginning for his lack of funds. Of course that’s never the whole truth. Nothing with this program is as it seems, Emmet seems to dig the truth out a little bit at a time. The other characters that are up to go to Eden with Emmet are a mixed bag of apples. The author had an uncanny way of making you feel exactly what Emmet felt during the book. So when he was making friends or enemies you felt everything he felt. I think that character connection was really important for me. While Nyxia itself plays a very important rule in this book as an every evolving thing that Babel and Emmet doesn’t quite understand. I’m not sure it was quite as important as the internal battles and physical battles Emmet was waging.

The plot line in this book was amazing, so amazing in fact that I was sending some hilarious snaps to my BFF of my face during the plot twists. Saying WHAT?? I can’t believe that happened!!! I’m so excited that there was so much depth to this book, and the characters had flaws. Flaws in a good way, they can either grow from these flaws or die a horrible death.. I’m just kidding.. sort of! I just cannot wait to get my hands on the second book.

This book was really good. I listened to the audiobook that was made available by the National Library Service for the Blind and Physically Handicapped, or NLS, and I couldn't stop listening once I got started! The characters were very realistic, and I could imagine everything they went through. I can't wait to find and read the next two books!

This is like the Hunger Games set in a space ship. What fun romp. Bring on the next book!

HOLY CRAPOLA!

Nyxia was AHHHMAZINGGG! I loved Emmett so much and really enjoyed the adventure and what he went through in this book. Okay, so Nyxia is about ten teenagers who are recruited to mine a precious mineral from a distant planet named Eden. Sounds cool right? Spoiler alert: I would not want to mine anything from a different planet sooo... I would not volunteer as tribute. Sorry, not sorry? Well Emmett does because who everyone gets to go and do the deed.. well, they earn a large sum of money. Emmett needs money, like everyone else that is joining, because his mom is severely sick.

Remember how I said that there were ten teenagers? Well, there was a catch (like there always is!) and well, only eight actually got to go. Color me shocked people. Turns out our star pupil wasn't always a star. Nope, Emmett was clawing his way from the bottom until the very end. Luckily for him, things turned out great and his mom was doing better down on earth.

Okay, so long story short: I loved this book. I was hooked from the beginning. I developed so many questions that eventually got answered while the story was unfolding. The book also gave off so many vibes from other books, like Hunger Games meets Divergent. Which is probably why I loved it so much.

I loved Emmett and the relationships he formed while during these trial runs. I freaking loved Kayla and I WAS DISTRAUGHT WITH WHAT HAPPENED TO HER. My heart broke into so many tiny splinters. I hurt all over and I have no idea how to deal with this kind of pain. I mean, Emmett was like sad for a hot second then a new girl came along and he was like.. aww yeahhh!

I already have the second book in this triad for an ARC and I am so freaking pumped to dive into it! I hope it's even more AMAZING!
