ARC Review

AHHHHHHHH!!!!! Archer and Darcy are here 😍

From the moment we met Archer in the start of the series I have been waiting for his book. I am such a sucker for a playboy to boy-obsessed story. Archer is the New York Blades goalie who has been in the league for over 7 years. He is your typical charming playboy who does not have a problem getting with any girl he sets his eyes on. At least that wasn't a problem until Darcy came into the picture.

Darcy is the sister of Archer's teammate (Jack) and step-daughter to his new coach (John). If you have read the other books in this universe you will also read about their happily-ever-afters 😊. Darcy has recently moved back from the UK where she is originally from. She had moved back to attend university and be with her long-term boyfriend since she was 14. Unfortunately, he cheated on her and she decided that enough was enough and she needed a change.

From the beginning Darcy and Archer have always been attracted to each other but never did anything except a little minor flirting. For almost a year things continued on this way until Darcy decided she was ready to get out there and "have some fun". Lets just say Archer was not happy with that and was doing everything in his power to stop it.

However, one thing leads to another and our new favorite couple ends up having a little too much fun 😏. This fun not only leads them to sneaking behind their friends and teammates backs, but also a surprise bundle of joy!

These characters go through so many obstacles to not only come to terms with who they are and who they want to be but also to be together in the long run. There is so much tension, banter and spice between these two that you just do not want to put this book down!

Lastly, thank you to Ruth and her amazing team for the opportunity to read this continuation in an already perfect universe. I cannot wait for what is next!

Archer has known for a while now that Darcy was who he wanted to be with, there was no denying his feelings. But the whole coach's stepdaughter, friend's sister thing, puts the breaks on that whole train of thought. Until the time comes where he can't deny it anymore and makes his move, in private (ish). The two decide to just have some fun, Darcy was very clear on that, fun only, no strings and Archer is willing to go along until he can convince her to try for more. When Darcy learns that their no strings has resulted in lifelong consequences will this be the answer to Archer's prayers? Will he finally get Darcy for good?

This was an ok story, we are getting some nice drama and some really hot naughty bits (holy cow were they on fire). I read this as a standalone and didn't feel like I was missing anything. I give this 4 stars.

Ruth does it again! Another swoon worthy book boyfriend. Another complete and utterly obsessed and unhinged goalie lol. We’ve known Darcy since Boarded Hearts where her mom Felicity meets and falls in love with Jon. And we met Archer in her brother’s book Perfect Deke. What we don’t see is how long Archer has been secretly pining for Darcy. These two make the most unlikely pair but somehow it works. In the past two books Archer seems like a douchey playboy but we truly get to see the depths to him, who he really is behind the goalie mask he pretends to wear all the time. We got to see how down bad he is and the depth of his heart. Darcy, we only see bits and pieces of her throughout the books but we get to see her trying to figure out who she is, what she wants and goes for it. After just getting out of an awful relationship, she just wants a fresh start and some fun. However, life has so many curveballs ready to be thrown her way and she honestly handles everything in stride. I knew I would really like this book because I’ve loved all of Ruth’s books so far but 😮‍💨 this has to be my favorite so far. Archer even beats Jensen for me. He does everything to distance himself from his reputation and show his heart to Darcy without showing his full hand because he doesn’t want her to bolt. His feelings were miles past intense or obsessed. Darcy eventually learns and understands Archer. I think Archer was just good at hiding behind his mask and allowed people to have misconceptions about him because he didn’t care what people said or thought. Until Darcy came along and he wanted to be better and wish away his past for her. Somehow they just understand each other and it works.
And we had zero second or third act breakup which was absolutely amazing. Life’s surprise wrench worked out perfectly for these two. I’m trying so hard not to give anything away, but I will say this book is beyond difficult to put down. Not only do we get to watch Archer be absolutely unhinged and obsessed with Darcy but we even get some background character drama 👀. A new character steps on the scene and lets just say we kinda met his dad in the scorpions series …. And he’s just as much of a douche maybe worse than his father 😒. Ahhh I hate douche redemption arc’s but its a Ruth stilling book so I know im going to have to suffer through his major a**holery to read the story that will come of it.
