idk the dark forest bits felt kinda repetitive and not really thought out? it was more exciting when the dark forest felt more mysterious and that mind control thing ashfur did was a bit too much
also i hate what the erins did to bristlefrost :(( i loved her character and now her character is just ~being in love with rootspring~, i would've loved for the 3 main characters to just be best friends and have a really close bond or i would've liked rootspring + bristlefrost if they had shown more of bristlefrost developing her feelings for him but it just feels like they didn't know what to do with her so she suddenly reciprocated his feelings and lost all of her other character traits

Although this book is probably one of the stronger entries in the Broken Code arc, it’s still not great. The first third of the book continues the argument of what to do with Bramblestar/the imposter, until suddenly our main characters remember that it’s possible to dream your way into the Dark Forest. This changes the argument from “oh nooo, what do we do about Bramblestar” to “but it’s too dAnGeRoUs to go into the Dark Forest.” But of course, our main characters do and things FINALLY happen.

Overall not a bad read, but the Erins have just gotten too repetitive with their writing, creating a ton of unnecessary filler and sloppily written, wishy-washy characters.

This book was amazing- especially compared to the last one.

What bothered me about the last one was that there was sooooo much repetition and standing around and the cats discussing killing Bramblestar's body over and over again.

This one seemed more fast paced and full of action. A lot of things happen in this book and I loved it.

Bramblestar finally gets his body back and he and Squirrelflight are back in the real world.

Snowtuft was an amazing character and I hope that he gets the redemption he rightfully deserves in the next book.

I also still love RootBristle romance- I just hope that they actually fully finish developing it in the next book and that they don't just develop it off screen and we see them being background characters in the next arc suddenly having kits off screen.

The story is intense, there are some really great moments in there - and I still love Ashfur as a villain. He seems really close to what menacing and dark presence Tigerstar1 was and that's just amazing to see again.

I love this book and I love this arc so far. I can't wait for the finale of this to drop.

3.5*
I am so happy to have continued these books - all the nostalgia! I have been slowly catching up throughout the last few months and have now, with this book, finished the latest paperback release (not counting Special Editions, but I am on it).

The books still hold the same charme as they did back in the day and I loved seeing this new plotline play out so far! While some twists were predictable, I have been surpriesed a few times as well. And that even though I have been spoilered on some major events happening throughout these latest books.

So, to not drag this out unneessairily: athmospheric autumn read for young readers both actually and at heart I guess?

Did I know I wasn’t gonna like it when I picked it up? Yes. Did I not enjoy it. Absolutely. I think the only thing I liked about this book was the cover.

I hate where this series is going. There was so much talk and not enough action. And then there was so much at the end it made me roll my eyes. And then I’m sorry, Bristlefrost and Rootspring? For so long she denied his advances. Remaining loyal to ThunderClan. Then out of nowhere she says that she loves him? WTF? But then again, there has been a theme now where no one is loyal to their clan anymore. Even Dovewing. I still can’t believe she left ThunderClan for ShadowClan and Tigerstar. It really doesn’t seem like her.

This is not the same series I read when I was young. I don’t care that I’m older now and this is meant for a young audience, this series has gone down the drain.
