“Maybe i won’t be your last love , Saira. And sometimes i think maybe I’ll be okay with that. But you could be my last love.”

This book follows Saira , a girl genius , who went through her studies with a fast track pass , just at a mere of 16 , she’s a force to be reckoned with and has started her internship at Princeton Près. She soon learns that her genius ability may not be that helpful after all.

This book reminded me so much of Greys’Anatomy , a comfort show of mine. Except with the twist of Indian characters , there was bits of communication, and the guy was kinda petty , but i mean he had a valid reason to be. I loved the fact that Vish was such a good best friend , always at Saira’s beck and call. But the way that Saira was always the bad person in almost all the aspects of the story made me annoyed. And Lizzie was such a bitch , it honestly wasn’t Saira’s fault to be pushed into this Girl Genius world , everyone had so much to expect from her. AND I WANT TAARA’S BOOK TOO , i love her.

All throughout this book, I was bored and just not interested in the plot. By the end of it, I felt the characters were not fully developed as well as the plot. However, toward the end I was starting to cry because there were things in here that happened that made me tear up. I also felt for Saira sometimes because you feel like she might have grown up way too fast and never really gotten to experience her childhood because of her schooling.

I was super excited for this book, but found it very underwhelming and kind of disappointing. Saira doesn't feel lie the prodigy genius she's supposed to be nor does she feel like a relatable 16 year old protagonist. Overall, she just feels like a rather whiny/pouty girl pretending to be a doctor. I can understand Saira wanting a relationship with a patient her age; I can't understand her pouting (verbatim of what the book says) to her fellow doctors and superiors - despite the fact that she mentions time and time again that she wants to be viewed as an adult.
Overall, not a very compelling story or romance.

ymptoms of a Heart Break follows Saira, a "girl genius" as she starts her first residency while all of her same-age friends are starting senior year of high school. When a teen patient on the pediatric oncology wing mistakes her for another patient she might end up sacrificing all she worked for and ruining her brand new doctor reputation by falling for a patient. Like I said, I'm not sure I've read a YA medical book before, probably because most teens are not in the medical field just yet, but this one definitely fits into the category.

I really enjoyed this book. It had all of the medical content I was interested in, it had a bit of romance, a bit of YA chaos - drinking parties, getting in trouble, friends getting mad... it also features an Indian family and some of the interesting family dynamics and cultural customs that come with that. I think this is a great option for teens because there really was not a lot of sex/violence/explicit content but yet it did have the elements most teens want to see in a YA. It also is perfect for teens looking for books with diverse characters and for those interested in medical books. If you're an adult who is not interested in reading YA then this is not the right book for you, but like I said, sometimes the PG version is not so bad. I would definitely recommend this book to those who are interested in trying this new (2019) addition to both the medical and YA genres! Go check it out!

Just ok for me. The description talks about “romantic comedy highs and tearjerker lows” and I didn’t really see any of that. Plus, not all the culture/language was explained and I felt that was a bit of a deterrent. I wanted to like this book more but I just wasn’t feeling it.

haven’t been so wrapped up in a book in a while, honestly! however, despite all the fault in our stars comparisons, i feel like this book would’ve been 10x better without the romance. it felt forced—there was zero chemistry, absolutely none. link was about as charming as a stale piece of bread. also it was just STUPID like
WHY ARE THEY KISSING IN THE HOSPITAL WHERE ANYONE CAN STUMBLE UPON THEM.
idc if love makes you crazy! have some common sense! as loathe as i am to admit it, john green did it better.

i feel like if the author discarded the romance and instead focused on the relationship between alina and saira
(especially saira dealing with her death, instead of just glossing over it in favor of describing more of saira and link’s romance :/)
, messy desi family dynamics, the falling out between lizzie and saira, etc this would’ve been a much more interesting book. still an enjoyable read, though!

As a fan of the t.v. show “Doogie Hoswer”, I was excited to read this book. Saira is an Oncologist working with children that have cancer. Not going to lie, this was a tough subject for me to read at times. I had a good friend that passed away from cancer and reading about kids with this disease wasn’t easy. At one point during the book, I had to stop reading and compose myself. This book definitely showcased the highs and lows of the disease and the struggles the families faces during the whole process.

In this story Saira is trying to find a balance between being a doctor and being a teen. Reading this story I got to see Saira excel in certain areas but stumble in others. I’m happy that she even though she was billed as a ‘girl genius” she still had flaws and dealt with typical teenage angst and drama.

This was my first time reading this author and I really enjoyed this story. I loved the diversity of the characters, and the meddling family members. The story was good, the plot is refreshing and the writing was solid. This book made me laugh, smile and get emotional. I look forward to reading more books by this author in the future.

I enjoyed this book! I thought the story was interesting but the story went a billion different ways and it was hard to follow the writing at times. Overall, super cute
