This books was everything I wanted it to be and more. If you are a fan of Sherlock x Watson this book is for you. There is a lot of dark themes in this book so make sure to check the content warnings before diving in.

I found the characters so loveable and I felt really immersed in the story. I am so glad that it is a series and will continue to read it.

If this wasn’t a book club book it would’ve been a DNF. The writing made me feel like and English teacher grading papers. Confusing writing/plot line, I still don’t quite understand if Sherlock and Watson are real people or fiction or both?? Or if Sir Arthur Conan Doyle exists in this world??? Narrator Jamie pissed me off from the beginning, just annoying. Not enough Lena content, loved her. Pages like I think 200ish-270ish were entertaining to me, everything else was kinda meh.

I saw someone mention that this book was similar to a CW plot…. And listen, it lowkey is but it’s also better.

I surprisingly LOVED this. I need to be less hesitant of books in the 3.5-3.75 range of ratings because I enjoyed this so much. I loved Charlotte & Jamie together. As friends and as a ship. I love their banter. I actually enjoyed being in Jamie’s point of view. Usually I prefer third pov but I love that this book was in first, and
I loved charlottes appearance at the end. Both of their voices are so fun
. I’m continuing with this series immediately.

My complaints:
-
I dislike the rhetoric that dobson deserved redemption. He deserved to pay for his crime in prison. He was a rapist

-some of jamies thoughts I didn’t like or agree with, and now I can barely remember them so clearly they weren’t a huge deal. They were  along the lines of dumb things teenage boys believe in, usually having to do with girls in their life.

I’m not very versed in Sherlock, except the BBC show that I watched 8+ years ago. So maybe if I were I’d have a different opinion on this. But regardless, an enjoyable read.

I read this book in a day, and I’m a very slow reader. I’m a huge Sherlock fan and I’m very nitpicky about recreations and reimaginings but I loved this one so so so much.
ALSO HOLMES AND WATSON ARE SO ADORABLE TOGETHER IM MELTING IT’S SO CUTE <spoiler/>
