Wow. This book was an emotional rollarcoaster. I love survival stories and this was one heck of a survival story! It's so good and I love the character growth our two main characters went through. At times I were so incredibly confused about something, because the characters were too, and all I wanted to do is figure out this mystery! Now I have and it has brought on some more questions that will hopefully be answered in the next book. I really loved it. Definitely recommend! *spoilers* I totally expected the password to be Lilac. I was so frustrated that she couldn't see it uggh. Her dying and coming back but only temporary thing really confused me and made me really really sad. I'm so happy it had a happy ending! I'm excited for more in this world but I do wish I could get more from Lilac and Tarver's POV :(
The romance was good, the characters were okay. Everything else? Didn't intrigue me. The plot started off as really interesting then all of a sudden got so abrupt, so out of nowhere that really made me lose my original liking to this book.

I began reading this book after the great praise i got from fellow readers. The story follows Lilac LaRoux, daughter of the galaxy's richst man and Major Tarver a war hero. When the spaceship they are on crushes into a unknown planet they both start an attempt to find help and survive.
As the story progress Lilac and Tarver began to fall for each other while the enviroment around them changes. For me this first book of the trilogy has left me laughing and crying. Simlilar emotions got me on the "Across the Universe" series but the emotion especially on the final chapters is worth all the rally the characters have with the planet.
5 of five stars because of the descriptions, the POVs and the ability of Amie Kaufman to leap the hard core sci-fi and give to he reader the open inner world of her heroes.

I thought this was a solid start to an amazing trilogy that I'm glad to have binged this past week. I think that despite the plot dragging a couple of times, the characters were strong and I was deeply invested in their story.

Hmmm, forced myself to finish this book because all the positive reviews, but not sure it was worth it. Too slow and not enough for me in all aspects. :-(
Fun read!!
While the plot is a bit recycled (rich girl poor boy fall in love) and I've read multiple other crash-land-and-survive-on-mysterious-planet books, it was very well done and a page turner.
Even though it was Teens making all the decisions through the book, which often leads to many facepalm moments, I thought here it was well done. These kids aren't perfect, they do make mistakes, but they have common sense and skills and it did make sense for their characters to have those skills.
There's some unexpected existential angst thrown in toward the end. I liked it, but I'm worried with the second book looking like it will focus on 2 more new teens, will it get addressed properly as the story goes forward? Or do we just never return to the issue at hand? Because if it's the latter that's rather disappointing.

Woooow. I wasn't expecting that. Great plot, great characters, and an all around good story. Can't wait to read the second one.
