I really did like this one. We got a ton of Astley, who is easily my favorite character at this point. We got to see Zara dealing with some of the consequences of her transformation. She started to get very conflicted about her feelings for Astley and it was all very go-go-go from the beginning.
The things I didn't like:
*spoilers*
The end was tied up in a neat bow for the most part, except that Astley was left out of that bow. He's constantly regulated to the outside looking in and he's too interesting and complex a character for that. I want to know more about him, see more of him and to let him come in and interact with more than just Zara and the pixies. I'd like to see him with her friends, in her world. We got a little of it but he always got shoved right back out. There is a fourth book due out in 2012. I hope this one will touch on some of the things I'm looking for with Astley.
Nick came back. Eh it was nice in that reunion way. He's a big part of their circle of friends and it plays into more than just Zara being happy he's back. He's just...goody two shoes boring to me. I'm hoping him having to deal with Zara's transformation and Astley will help round him out and give him a little more than black and white cardboard motivations I'm still not certain I'll like him if it does. He and Zara always seem very saccharine and flat while there are layers, motivations, twists and interest to Zara and Astley.
Over all, despite my problems with it, I really did enjoy it.

I heart Astley so much, something about him is so dedicated and adorable. Plus, he's so committed to Zara and helping her with Nick even though he loves her. I seriously hope they get together in the end or my heart will break. They are just too cute together.
When does the next book come out? [impatient]

Oh my. Well, I thought that the writing would get better as the series went on... it didn't. I am so disappointed! It's such an amazing idea and concept and even the plot isn't all that bad, but the writing is really so sub par.
Another list of things that I find to be very amateur-ish:
1. To. Many. Stunted. Sentences. While this is a good way to convey frustration, it's over done in the series. Not to mention, sometimes it's good to have two words in between the periods. It would just flow better.
2. I found I liked the book better during the scenes that has Astley and Zara. Their chemistry is really good and I actually hope that they end up together. (I think he treats her with more respect the Nick does.) Also, it's way to "ditzy girl" when it comes to all the girls together. Their conversations make me think that they are not all that smart at all.
3. There was one part that bothered me, a lot. When Zara meets Astley's mother, Zara describes her as Glinda the Good Witch in Wizard of Oz. And Wicked. And whatever else it was. Just name one! I'm sure all your readers are familiar with the Wizard of Oz and will get the reference. (Unless they're as dumb as your other characters who have no idea what "Buffy" or "Star Wars" is.)
I had read someone else's comment that it seems that Zara's character was put together by throwing darts at a board. I think I am beginning to agree with that. The phobia's and the Amnesty thing are both really intense characteristics and already I am seeing them float away by book three.
I also am a little on the Mom's side when she is saying that Zara is being really selfish about getting Nick back. I'm looking forward to how this will al play out in the fourth and final (finally!) book. Will Nick still love her? Will she realize that she probably could do all this on her own, without a man? Will se love Astley who seems to be so in love with her? I mean she used him and yet he is still there for her through everything.
Maybe the ending will wrap up well, but I am losing hope and no longer have great expectations. This book could have been way more solid with some read throughs and discussions and a little more editing.

So, I thought this was book three OF THREE... apparently not so much since it doesn't tie anything up at the end. Typical third book, since it ads on to the story but doesn't necessarily work as a story on its own. I was simultaneously annoyed at how often she touched the anklet and thought of Nick, but also remembering how if I was her age and in her situation I would have done the same thing. And you can't really blame teen fiction for being... well... aimed at teens. Hoping the next (last?) book comes out soon so I can see how this mess sorts itself out.

Entice is the third in the Need series, and it picks up right where the second book (Captivate) left off. Zara, who was recently turned into a pixie, and her friends (Devyn – a were-eagle, Cassidy – part elf, and Issie – plain old human) attempt to take a break from defending the town of Bedford from evil pixies by attending a school dance. However, the disappearance and possible death of Zara’s boyfriend Nick (werewolf) weighs heavily on all of their minds. Zara turned pixie so that she would be able to visit Valhalla, a mythical afterworld for warrior fae, but in order to do it she had to be kissed by Astley, one of several warring pixie kings. Now it’s up to Zara and her friends to figure out a way to get to Vallhalla and bring Nick back.
Willing suspension of disbelief is a definite requirement for this one. Even the characters don’t seem to believe in the hodge podge of mythical and supernatural elements occurring in this book. The only character who is remotely likable is Betty – Zara’s step grandmother – and she’s not present for a large part of the novel. The rest of the characters are just annoying. The story is told from Zara’s point-of-view, so the reader is (unfortunately) privy to all of her thoughts and feelings. This leads to the inclusion of made-up words i.e., “I launched myself into his arms ‘squeeing’” and annoying phrases such as “the Vander guy” and “the Frank guy.” The Zara Nick Astley love triangle is very reminiscent of Twilight as is the idea of the main character having to become something non-human for love. Overall, I did not find much to like in Entice; however, diehard fans of Twilight and supernatural romances may be satisfied with this series, which will continue on for at least one more installment and probably more after that. There is some violence, but the language is pretty clean and the characters don’t go much further than passionate kissing. Recommended as an optional purchase where the first two books in the series were popular.

Once again Carrie did not dissapoint! This book was filled with action, heartbreak and humor. The characters are all so very individual. You know who is speaking even when it hasn't been preceeded by a name. Again , not thrilled with the end. Mostly because it ended. lol No idea when the next installment will be released but I will be Pre-ordering it when the date comes out. lol * this could be constrewed as a spoiler so just stop reading here.... Loving Astley at the moment but missing Nick. I can't wait to see what happen next!

I feel like so much happened in this book! The entire time I was reading it I was in a 'whoa' state. The characters actually did things and went places and stuff happened. I don't quite know why I don't feel like this happens in other books. But Entice was fast paced and always moving. Definitely not a disappointment. One thing that I think is great is that I feel like the story is actually going somewhere. There's a bigger picture. Zara still hasn't hit that heroine annoyance level that most main characters get to often in the first or second book. I still find her likeable. And I think Astley is one of the best male characters I've come across-and probably the number one third side to a love triangle. When I reached the end of Entice I was just hoping it wasn't over, but alas it was. Now I can't wait for the next book to come out!!
