5 stars for this book is a muthafreakin' joke, it's an infinity star type book. I don't have the words, I would say there aren't enough words in the English language to do this book justice, but that's irony at it's best because Colleen Hoover just used a shit ton of them to rip my heart out through my eyeballs more than once. I was seriously so captured by this book I paced the room reading with my kindle in my hand because I couldn't drag in enough breath while I was sitting.

In her self description Colleen refers to herself as a ninja. I'm sort of convinced at this point she might be right. I thought Slammed and POR were masterpieces, but she will forever be known for writing this book and this book is staying with me forever, it's seriously going to stay with anyone that reads it that has half a heart.

Just when you think you're reading a book about a sheltered homeschooled girl that falls for the bad boy....WHAMO....this book takes off in directions you never thought possible. That's a ninja move right there if I've ever seen one. Then it happens again and again and you just don't understand how a single human created this twisted tale!!

Sorry I don't have more words right now. I just know I can't look at the sky or reality the same, ever! I cherish pinky curls, window entries, sarcastic texts, and dinner quest. I would say I wish I had all of those things in my life, but by the time you finish this book you know the only truly deserving people to have those magical FOREVERS are Holden and Sky.

P.S. I love Dean Holden. I love Sky. I love Karen. I love 6. I love the Morman. Hell, I even love Jack. It's a big love fest over here right now as I'm surrounded by kleenexes and wishing that book had not ended. Let's have a book 2 and maybe a book 3 on Holden/Sky...what'dya say, Ninja?

“When you wrapped your arms around me and held me, I knew that no matter what happened with my life, you were my home.”

“Thank you for giving me the courage to always ask the questions, even when I didn’t want the answers.”

CHARACTERS:

**Who is the Hero? Dean Holder, Age: 17**
~ Dean arrives on the scene with a bit of mystery surrounding him. Speculation that he beat up a guy and spent time in juvi abounds. Of course, the rumors are wrong. About fifteen months ago his twin sister committed suicide.

**Who is the Heroine? Linden Sky Davis, Age: 17,**
~ Sky was adopted when she was a small child and has been raised by a single mother. Her mother doesn’t allow any TV, cell phones, internet and Sky has always been homeschooled. Her closest friend in the world lives next door and helps Sky “experience” a little of life (in the form of introducing her to boys who like to make out).

PLOT:
**Sky’s first few encounters with Dean made her think he might be a bit unstable and a stalker. Turns out Dean was battling a few memories and some ghosts. Once past their initial awkward stage, these two form a tight bond and navigate through first love.

The first half of the book is about building this relationship and it was sweet with a bit of angst here and there. I wouldn’t put their angst in the typical high school immature drama category because you knew there was something deeper going on.
~Holder: “I want to tell you exactly how I feel but there isn’t a single goddamned word in the entire dictionary that can describe this point between liking you and loving you, but I need that word. I need it because I need you to hear me say it.”
~ Sky: “Live. If you mix the letters up in the words like and love, you get live. You can use that word.”
~ Holder: “I live you so much.”

About halfway through the book, when their relationship is fairly solid - all hell breaks lose. Yikes.

This book touches on some pretty difficult subjects. See content warnings below.

<><><><><><><><><>
OVERVIEW:
- Content Warning: sexual abuse between father & daughter (graphic details were off page, but some flashbacks made it clear what was happening), sexual abuse between brother & sister (mentioned, details off page), two suicides (one off page, one on page), kidnapping
- Setting: Texas
- POV: Sky POV
- Hero likeable? yes, Holder was a rock for Sky but there were times he blamed himself for things out of his control and I got a little tired of hearing how it was “his fault”. News flash - no it wasn’t.
- heroine likeable? yes. But it took me a little bit to warm up to her because I had a hard time getting a read on her character in the beginning
- h virgin?Yes, but not really
- First time they kiss: 43%
- First time they sleep together: 76%
- Safe sex? Yes. Condoms were used
- First time they say I Love You “I Live You” (halfway between like and love) came around 44%. The actual I Love You was around 77%
- steamy? Descriptive bedroom scenes, but I wouldn’t say it’s overly steamy.
- Chemistry? I thought they had a really good connection
- OW/OM drama? No
- H/h cheat? No
- Time apart? No
- Did I skip pages? No
- Big secrets? Yes. The last 20-30% is a bunch of twists and turns. Some expected, some may surprise the reader
- Did I cry? Yes, I got a little teary eyed
- Did I laugh? I smiled a bit. I enjoyed some side characters and Sky and Holder had some fun aspects to their relationship that lightened the mood here and there.
- Did I swoon

I loved this book! I loved Sky and Holder and their personalities. Once I got to the juicy part of the plot I couldn’t put it down. There were a lot of twists, so much so that i thought it was on the verge of too much trauma for a book. The other reasons I gave 4 stars instead of 5 was because it was a little hard for me to get into and you could just tell that it was one of the first books she published. I would still recommend it tho it def keeps you entertained and it made me cry so what more could you want

7/10⭐️’s

First half of the book very cliche and chill highschool story where the main character is very much “not like other girls” and her love interest is a weird-off putting yet ultra loving boy with crazy mood swings and a temper

Second half of the book is the craziest most dramatic soap opera and plot twist after plot twist of a story, I can’t even believe it’s the same book. I enjoyed reading the twists and turns and discovering the truth alongside the character… but GAHHDAMN DOES THIS BOOK NEED SOME TRIGGER WARNINGS! I’m not one to urge authors to add this bc it may spoil some parts of the story but this one definitely needed a few for the amount of dark ass themes it explored. her father

lassant, toujours des ados avec un background de ouf et des leçons de vie pas possible à 17ans
tres téléguidé
un daron détestable t’as jamais vu
challenging sad slow-paced

Only no stars bc I can’t put negatives.

Good book, good story, nice twist. Kind of a negative, serious topic but overall a really good book. I (of course) read it in one night. :)

This is definitely not my favorite Colleen book. The story line would have been very interesting and good if written differently but it’s written in a cringey, unrealistic way in my opinion. I just think it moves too quickly and healing from what happened to Hope/Sky does not happen that quickly no matter what. It’s all just rushed.
