Yes, it's stupid and makes no sense, but what bothers me with this book is the characters and how there's absolutely no development or even characterization to begin with. Why should I care about these people? About their story? About the life they're risking? The author offers nothing in that regard.

I also hate how stupid it is and how nothing makes any sense. Everything felt rushed yet they managed to drag this thing on for 350 pages whilst still offering... nothing?

Who proofread this? I found my copy, which turned out to be a proof copy, at a second hand store. I don't think they opened it once and it's a shame because it needs a lot of work.

One star because it did give that unreasonable-but-still-slightly-chilling-if-you-pretend-it-happened-to-you effect that a bad horror story read in the dark can have. I'm not proud of it but at least I'm honest to myself and am in fact writing this review to reset my brain and procrastinating getting to sleep.

Will be donating this back to the second hand store asap.

I did enjoy reading this book. I will say I was expecting it to be way scarier than it actually was. Also I have a lot of things I’m confused about and things that were never explained. I don’t know if I was too dumb and didn’t understand or what but I was super confused by the ending. It was still fun to read about the moon though and like thinking about the horrors that would occur given the situation they find themselves in. Mostly I’m just wanting an explanation.

Jsiajnwjsizixjd I can actually say that this is the first book that actually had my heart racing. I don't even know... What? Okay, I can clearly not form sentences right now. Review to come when my brain is clearer.

"He screamed. And his scream could be heard all the way out on the street. It was the sound of a person who’d just realized that all hope was lost."
-Johan Harstad, 172 Hours on the Moon
Synopsis: It’s been decades since anyone set foot on the moon. Now three ordinary teenagers, the winners of NASA’s unprecedented, worldwide lottery, are about to become the first young people in space—and change their lives forever. Mia, from Norway, hopes this will be her punk band’s ticket to fame and fortune. Midori believes it’s her way out of her restrained life in Japan. Antoine, from France, just wants to get as far away from his ex-girlfriend as possible.
It’s the opportunity of a lifetime, but little do the teenagers know that something sinister is waiting for them on the desolate surface of the moon. And in the black vacuum of space… no one is coming to save them.
Review:
This book was incredibly interesting to read, especially since I haven’t read many sci-fi books, and it had a refreshing new take on the idea of aliens in outer space. I really enjoyed the fact that it wasn't predictable at all and you are constantly wondering what is going to happen next because you think something is going to happen…and then it doesn't. It’s fast paced, and the ending, to put it bluntly, was ABSOLUTELY INSANE! I think you could maybe classify this book as a sci-fi horror? The science aspect of the novel was very convincing and it sounded like the author knew what he was talking about.
One of the few downsides of 172 Hours on the Moon was the romance involved in it. I feel like it was a little rushed, and it wasn't very dynamic or believable sometimes. It is only a week.
Overall, I really enjoyed reading this, and it definitely gave me a Book Hangover. It has so many new and crazy ideas and concepts throughout the novel; if you are a fan of sci-fi, I definitely recommend this book. Actually, I recommend this book to anyone who loves fiction. It’s thought-provoking, and just a really, really, really great read.

This was an interesting story with some creepy bits thrown in. I enjoyed reading it up until the end. The reveal of how some things connected was not as compelling as I’d hoped it would be, so that was a bit of a letdown. Also, the ending was rather predictable. But overall, I did like the book, and it was a good pick for this time of year.

if the first 30%-40% weren't such a slog to get through i would probably rate it higher. i guessed the plot twist but it was still scary and interesting so i didn't mind. this would make a great movie tbh, hope someone will pick this up one day
