Listened to this. Did not love in the same way I loved I'll Give You The Sun. This one is cute, some of the same themes: teenage love, teenage grief, growing up in a quirky family... but not as captivating. It is still pretty good.

I love Jandy Nelsons writing. I totally recommend this to anyone who is a big poet, reader, or musician. The book will speak to you in so many ways, make you laugh, cry, & live along with them.

Book 3 of The Reading Rush 2019
I loved I’ll Give You the Sun, so this was majorly disappointing. I didn’t want to give this 1 star, but the only thing I liked in this book was the poetry. Clearly I’m in the minority, so maybe I should give it away to see if someone else would like it. Every single decision Lennon made I disagreed with, and I found her completely unrelatable. I didn’t even like the depiction of grief after coming off The Astonishing Color of After. Joe Fontaine does not deserve her. I need to stop getting books ABOUT romances because I usually hate that that’s the whole plot and few other things are developed. I think I can only trust a few authors to do it the way I like it.
Will I pick up a new Jandy Nelson? Yes, because of IGYtS, but I will be more wary based on the synopsis.

I actually read I'll Give you the Sun before this, and it really got me obsessed with Jandy Nelson books. When I was a Books-A-Million the other day I decided to pick up a copy of The Sky is Everywhere ....and it was just as amazing as the other one! I literally would pay anything to become a writer like Jandy Nelson. I loved the characters and the plot and the love triangle (*applause* it was perfectly done). I love the artistic aspect and the little notes scattered throughout the book. I was just so utterly in awe and I love it when a book can do that to me. Please, please, PLEASE write more books!

3.5
Hmm I am really torn on this book. On the one hand I loved everything to do with Bailey and Sarah and Gram. I thought it was fleshed out how Lennie dealt with all of them and it was very emotional. On the other hand I was less than impressed with the romance. It felt rushed, Lennie and Toby frustrated the heck out of me. I liked Joe alot but even that was a little too insta-love for me. Lennie made me very frustrated and angry for 80% of the book. I loved the development in the last 20% but it didn't make up for the beginning. Overall I enjoyed this book and how it dealt with grief and loss but on the romance didn't work for me as much as I wanted it too.
