I liked it well enough, but it's a lot like the original, except shorter and a tad bit less doomy.

This is why Shakespeare is the King of the Canon. Beautiful soliloquys, complex characters, masterful language, perfect pace, and - most importantly - a story that will affect anyone deep in their heart if they let it.
Read this along with the Critical Essays for King Lear, edited by Rian Kiernan - helped enormously to understand this rich, intricate play. Also saw the 2018 King Lear film adaptation with the always fantastic Anthony Hopkins in the title role.
Loved this play and will be reading it again soon.

Loved the story and most of the book. However, the ending ruined it for me.

This was such an engaging and complex play, I am sure that someone could study it for a lifetime and still not understand everything. There is so much depth of language, character and theme that this must be the most sophisticated Shakespeare tragedy.
