Tara, just eat the damn cookies. And stop including copaganda in your books because it makes the book unsafe for a lot of people to gain knowledge from (EXAMPLE: makes jokes about getting into a ‘paddy wagon’ during her gentle arrest with the ‘nice policemen’). I guess it also shows that the well is poisoned.

This will be the last Tara Brach book I read:(

I won this book in a Goodreads giveaway but would have bought it if I hadn't since I loved her first book, Radical Acceptance. I liked this one even better. She wr ites from the heart with personal experiences and the stories of others woven in to highlight what she's teaching. Guided meditations are included at the end of every section and I will be going back to these to continue practicing. I learned a lot about myself through this book and I will definitely be reading it again.

This is a readable, step by step explanation of what true refuge is. The author goes through sections on refuge in awareness, truth, and love. She gives many examples in the lives of people including herself. I found myself looking back over my life and seeing where I went to false refuge and where true refuge opened up for me. She is right in my own experience and it is good for me to be reminded and to find her meditations showing me how to practice in the approach to true refuge, because we never outgrow our need for this.

Like many books of this sort, some parts are elementary, other parts felt over my head. I find the chapters that speak to me now and hang on to it to read again later, when I hope, optimistically, to be wiser. lol
