I (inadvertently) read the second book in this series first and really enjoyed it. This book unfortunately just fell flat. The last 1/3 was cringey. I had a hard time with how he reacted and that he still had to retest and know the score before he came back to her. Just kinda ick. And the epilogue being two years later? That timeline in no way matched the rest of their relationship. Still a quick read, just not a favorite.

I love Christina Lauren so this was an easy read for me to pick up. I flew through it! Jess’s humor mixed with her background (not too much written in a way that I felt overly sorry for her, more like impressed with her resilience) combined with Dr. Pena’s stiff/skeptical/kind personality was fun, and then a data tie just melted my heart even more. Loved it.

Christina Lauren books always feel like a breath of fresh air to me. They’re easily digestible and heartwarming stories. And this is the first of the two books. They can be read separately and still get the same effect, however the second book is better IMO.

I smiled, laughed, and cried just a little. Couldn’t put this one down. The conflict was predictable but I didn’t care. I adored the characters and the love story.

I think this may be my favorite CL book to date. Maybe it's because the MC, Jess, is a mom or maybe because it's kinda a little on the nerdy side, but it just worked for me. It's almost a hate-to-love. The DNA based dating/soulmate app is really fascinating and I really liked seeing that weaved into the story. I loved Fizzy. I loved Juno. I loved Jess's grandparents and River's sisters. Just an overwhelming wholesome (with some spicy times) read that I can see myself going back to as a comfort read!

This is a let down of a book. It started out strong and then fizzled to nothing.

I've enjoyed some of the older books by these two, but find myself more and more disappointed with their newer works. This ended up doing nothing for me- there was no rush of being caught up in a story, no angst for two people who can't quite get where they need to be, and no joy when they finally did.

With each book I keep hoping they'll recapture the magic of former books like Josh and Hazel, but I'm extremely doubtful. I can't decide if I'll read more of their books in the future or if this is the last.

I have always loved reading Christina Lauren books with their brand of rom writing. But this one was a bloody cracker - I think it’s now my favourite of theirs.
