this book has been stuck in my mind since I read it over two years ago. I think about it all the time; it’s one of the few books I’ve read that I remembered almost all the little details from. rereading it knowing what happens to Vaughn was so heart wrenching, I can’t
After my reread, this has become one of my favorite LJ Shen books. I love Vaughn and watching his story develop.

Only in Shen's books can i be sure that I will get more than I bargained for and feel a lot worse that I finished the book.
The more I read the more I get hyped up to finish and then when I'm almost finished I start panicking that I won't find any other book that will give me the same feels as her books.

This is my first L.J. Shen book and I was sorely disappointed by the callousness of dealing with sensitive material. I had heard good things about this author and I was excited to read a book by her. I am not against anything explicit, for the most part, but there were graphic scenes between a pedophile and a young boy. I am not okay with that.
I also felt like there was so much aggression and anger the entire time throughout the whole book. I felt no chemistry between Vaughn and Lenny. Like, zero. It just felt like a game between them the entire time that they weren't fully into. I also started getting really annoyed that there was no information given. From the perspectives between both Vaughn and Lenny I felt lost even 40% into the book because I wasn't told anything. Sure, I kind of guessed what was happening but I didn't get confirmation on really anything until the second half of the book.
Lenny is pretty independent for the most part but she is a bit too into being abused by Vaughn. Vaughn is abusive from trauma but there is something about the way that he copes with it that didn't sit right with me. I do appreciate his parents but I was confused by their perspectives brought in. I think that his dad did right to take control of a horrid situation. I didn't like that Vaughn's dad wanted to cover up that Vaughn had been abused to his mother.
The lewd public displays that happen throughout this book felt weird and also unrealistic. Just because they are rich kids doesn't mean that they can get away from authority. The idea that these high school kids have this much control over their school is even more outrageous than the books that I normally read where the kids are in charge. Money talks apparently and that is the cop out.

I have sacrificed sleep and proper dinner for my family just to continue reading this story. It’s crazy good. Everything this author writes is hands down the bomb.com.This story however may just be her best work yet. So again, don’t walk ,run and start reading this . You won’t be sorry. Thank You LJ Shen.

All the feels
Oh man this book. So heartbreakingly beautiful. I thought I cried with the last book. But this book broke my eyes and I couldn’t stop the leak. Wow. I can’t believe it’s finished and I have to wait for another book.

Lenora has had a rocky relationship with Vaughn since childhood, from being friendly acquaintances to enemies when she saw something she shouldn’t have. When Lenora is uprooted from London to California, her path once again intersects with Vaughn, the reigning figure in their high school.
Lenora's determination to pretend she doesn't know Vaughn and to keep his secrets is met with resistance as Vaughn embarks on a mission to make her life a living nightmare. Their rivalry is further fueled when they both vie for the same spot at an art school, leading to a complicated entanglement when Vaughn wins the scholarship and Lenora becomes his assistant. As their relationship deepens, they uncover secrets more profound than they initially thought, propelling them toward a path of destruction.
“Angry God” by L. J. Shen was one of my favorite books I’ve ever read. I was so emotional with all the trauma and my heart broke for Vaughn towards the end of the book. It seriously took turns that I saw coming but absolutely didn’t at the same time. I cannot explain how amazing this book actually was and will forever have a place in my soul. 5 out of 5 stars and I’d give it more if I could.
