Another thought provoking book by Jodi Picoult about a very sensitive subject. Very well written and in an unique fashion that reveals the story unfolding backwards leaving me surprised by a few of the revelations.

Loved the different perspectives she brought to life about a very real and relevant topic. Sometimes the backwards timeline became confusing, but it was also an interesting way to weave together the characters stories.

I really struggled to finish this one. Normally I can fly through her books, but the backwards design of the book made it feel clunky.

Jodi Picoult is one of my favorite authors. Her last book, Small Great Things is still sticking with me a year later.
I loved that she took on this very controversial subject, and as always, did serious research to understand all views.
I also liked the characters quite a bit.
I think the issue for me may have been the story being told in reverse chronological order. It didn't flow well for me and I felt like I missed information. It felt disjointed.
I am a little broken-hearted to write that. The cover is so beautiful and I couldn't wait to get my hands on this book!

Jodi Picoult used to be one of my favorite authors. Over time, it seems she is becoming more about just pushing out her next book and cares less about consistency. There is nothing more frustrating to me than contradicting information in a storyline. If I can pick it up as a reader, why isn’t the author or editor able to do the same?
Also, using the reverse timeline is always a risky choice. Starting at the end of the story and working toward the beginning takes away the punchline. Especially in a subject matter as charged as this one.
Overall it had potential but just didn’t pay out.

As most books by Jodi Picoult, it leaves you thinking deeply. Such a fan of her work.
