This was a thrilling, captivating, novel in my opinion. I could not put it down.
I’m very happy this book was recommended to me. Bella and Rose are two teenagers who mother just dead. They’re able to go live with their estranged and extremely rich grandmother, since there is no one to care for them. Their grandmother decides to send them to a boarding school. Their grandmother thought she was helping but the worst thing she ever did was send them there.
I loved this book. I enjoyed all the twists and turns. What an ending!!!

I just say Michelle Campbell knows how to write a gripping psychological page turner. Her first novel "It's Always The Husband" was clever and original and this story is no different. I knew from the beginning, I was going to be routed to my seat till I found out how this one ended.
The twins are sent to the boarding school by their grandma after the death of their mother. Rose and Bel are completely different from each other. Rose loves school and follows the rules. Bel makes friends with a group of seniors who are known more for making trouble than good grades. Immediately the twins take opposite sides at school and it's obvious to everyone that the two are just oil and water. What ensues is a story of mean girls, hazing, jealousy and inappropriate relationships.
I enjoyed how Michele Campbell kept me guessing with this book. She made me find various characters at fault for various things, and she made me wonder who was manipulating whom. For all of their differences, Rose and Bel, have quite a bit in common. Each is quiet in her own way, and each makes you wonder just what she is capable of if circumstances necessitate.
This is definitely a great read and I would highly recommend it.

She Was the Quiet One is about Rose and Bel, 15 year old fraternal twins, who are sent to a prestigious New England boarding school after their mother dies. Rose is studious and loves the idea of going to this new school but Bel, the wild, rebellious one, immediately falls in with a bad group. Rose confides in Susan Donovan, who heads the dorm along with her very ambitious and popular husband Heath. Bel is drawn to Heath and this is where the dark tale takes off. Heath is a weak man in many ways and has already lost one career because of it...he's determined to make this new teaching career carry him all the way to headmaster of the school and he'll let no one get in his way.
We read the book from alternating views of Rose and Bel. Both girls, who are so different and they already have difficulty getting along because of those differences but the people at the school help to pull the girls farther apart as the book progresses. With grownups who actively lead at least one of the girls down a wrong path and other grownups who look away or make excuses for what is going on, the book is mired in tragedy. From the beginning, we know one girl is dead, supposedly at the hands of the other.

This is a book that is going to grab you from the the very first page and will keep you turning the pages until you get to the exciting ending. I devoured this book and loved every minute of it's suspense and mystery.
The story is riveting and scary, with plenty of evilness—so much evil and conniving going on. At the same time you have to admire the characters who are strong when they need to be.
I've read one other book by this author and her stories are amazing. I highly recommend her books and I'll definitely read her again.

This was a bit more of a page turner for me than others I’ve read. I loved the setting (boarding school) and the twin trope. I think It could have been shortened by cutting out some of the repetitive thoughts of the characters. I kept expecting a twist but the ending was somewhat predictable.
I absolutely loved this book! This was my first venture into Adult Thrillers and it did not disappoint!
After Rose and Bel’s mother dies, the twins Grandmother sends them to the prestigious private boarding school their parents attended. Following the lives of Rose and Bel, as well as their dorm parents, Heath and Sarah Donovan, She Was the Quiet One really makes you question how well you really know someone.
Twin sisters Rose and Bel couldn’t be more different. Bel is rebellious and beautiful. Rose is intelligent and sticks to the rules. When the girls arrive at Odell, Bel immediately befriends senior who aren’t the best influences while Rose uses the opportunity she has been given as best as she can. As the two sisters grow further and further apart, a sibling rivalry like no other results in lies, deceit and threats.
Heath and Sarah Donovan have the perfect marriage, the perfect family. However just below the surface lies deceit, doubt and lies. Heath doubts Sarah’s devotion. Sarah ignores her concerns, even when she is sent anonymous messages about her husbands supposed affair with a student.
This book was so compelling! I couldn’t stop reading, the writing was addictive! I loved how all the different topics were covered, sibling rivalry, cyber and regular bullying, privilege and power, ambition, deception and manipulation, infidelity and murder. Seeing how these characters could so easily turn on one another, while others went to extreme lengths to try and ignore what was happening.
I found that the murderer wasn’t a big shock but I really loved that! Normally I like to be surprised (I rarely am) but for this book, I felt that it was perfectly executed.
Overall I really loved this book and would definitely recommend it, especially to people who are looking to get into Adult Thrillers.

An average attempt at the whodunit with a hidden victim similar to Big Little Lies. The issue was that none of the characters were likable even the good students came off mean spirited.
If you like young adult mysteries, within the confines of a boarding school for rich children, then perhaps you may enjoy this more.
The novel started off great, we learn that one of the sisters will die, be murdered and that the other will be suspected of the murder. But the unfolding of the story, the pettiness and bratty behaviour made me not care after a while. So midway I felt as if anyone of them could die and I would be OK with that.
The twists and turns of who died and then who is the murderer ultimately fell flat. And the very ending felt so unnecessary.

She Was the Quiet One is a story about two sisters, and their lives when they attend a prestigious boarding school. For Rose, this school is a new beginning, a place where she feels at home. For her twin sister, Bel, it is a place with endless temptations. Rose and Bel take two different paths, and their choices shatter their relationship.
Heath and Sarah are the young teachers put in charge of improving the image of one of the dorms. Their lives are intertwined with the students, especially when they learn that the seniors have a challenge - winner is the first person to seduce Heath. Heath and Sarah are also living with secrets. The lives they lead, and the failure that lead them back to Odell School.
This book was filled with suspense, twists and turns. You start out the story knowing one of the sisters - Bel or Rose - has been murdered. The question you are asking yourself, as you read about the major events that pit the sisters against each other, is who is dead and who is the killer.
I felt a little frustrated with this book. I did not like Heath at all. He was an incredibly frustrating character and there was not enough information for me to obtain any sort of understanding. I absolutely hated his extremely inappropriate relationship with Bel, and they way he completely manipulated her feelings. She was extremely vulnerable which made his behavior even more horrible. His behavior in general was extremely manipulative, and I wish we learned more about him and his thought process to understand why he did the things he did.
Overall, this book was just okay for me. It kept me engaged and turning pages, because I wanted to know who died and who committed the murder. But the ending left me wanting more - more explanation, and more insight. It just didn’t sit right with me, and I am not sure I can completely explain it.
