What can I say? I've now read 10 Ruth Galloway novels and nothing can stop me from reading the next three. Keep 'em coming, Elly!

Just terrific the way the arc is developed over the last three books.

This is the 10th book in the series about Ruth Galloway, forensic archaeologist and academic. This is a series that really needs to be read in sequence, because it's as much about the lives of the characters as it is a mystery. While the books sometimes feel like the same story rewritten with minor changes, this one is quite different as it is set in Italy. Ruth has been invited by a former flame - and fellow archaeologist - to give advice on a recent excavation. I enjoyed the change in location and I enjoyed the increasing tension between Nelson and Ruth. I am very, very curious to know what will happen in the next book!

More of the same, although not much forensic archaeology, sadly. A bit disappointing.....

This was a particularly good Ruth book - adventures in Italy and an unexpected death, plus a murder or two for good measure.

I wasn't a fan of the split country plotlines and felt this weakened both. Still, a good read that as always had me not wanting to put it down. Sad that the next one isn't due out until next year.

I have read all of the Ruth Galloway books thus far. The author takes you into this world so quickly. In each book, you get sucked back into the world of Ruth, Nelson, Judy, Cathbad and all the other characters. Quick read, but I always love delving into Ruth's life. Always the perfect escape.

I feel before I start this review, I should admit, that I am a huge Elly Griffiths fan and have been for a while. Although, I promise this will not be a fan review. I am often harder on my favourite authors than anyone. This book is set in Italy which is a change from the normal location of Norfolk. The author has cleverly designed the story so many of the familiar characters are in the book. It is for these characters I keep reading the series. The crime aspect of the books are well written but it is the characters journey which keeps me coming back for more. I love the complex relationships that are evident throughout the series. I thoroughly love this series and this book did not disappoint in any way. I can't wait for the next in the series.
