i’m not sure why, but this book just didn’t hit for me the same way the others did in the series. i think it’s the way Felix’s character was presented. I LOVE HIM! he’s definitely the black cat to Avi’s golden retriever, but his constant self-sabotaging in the beginning really put me off from enjoying his story for a bit.

that’s not to say that i didn’t enjoy the story overall, though. it was just so hard for me to focus on liking the way the relationship was progressing when it kept stalling because of Felix’s insecurities. NOW, i don’t hate how vulnerable his character was. i actually loved that Avi’s character was crafted in a way to cater to Felix’s needs perfectly, BUT i didn’t like the feeling that Felix was always ready to run away. it never went away for me, even at the end.

NOW, despite all that, i liked the change of scenery compared to the other books. i think putting this chaotic whirlwind of a couple in the middle of nowhere for the majority of the story was beneficial to really seeing these characters develop individually and together. especially since back home they’re surrounded by people, so being in the middle of buttfuck nowhere really made me focus on how focused they were on each other. 💗

THAT’S ALL I’LL SAY ABOUT THAT 🙂‍↕️

The moment I met Avi he was my favorite Psychopath. When Felix wandered into the Mulvaney world I fell in love. When it became clear they were going to hook up I just about died. I have been practically bouncing in my seat until I could get my hands on this book.

My expectations were far too high and I knew it going in, but I couldn't help it! How on earth Onley actually exceeded those expectations is beyond me but she did! Every single detail of the story from relationship building, to family bonding, plot, humor, the HEAT omg.. There is not a thing I would change about this book.

*knock knock*

Hi I’m an internationally known fashion designer and rich guy, I’ve also been working to get you off of murder charges. I’d like to ask you some questions.

WTF is up with halting reality so hard in the twins books! I know they are fiction…I know that almost nothing about the Mulvaney’s is rooted in reality. But these books take place in the real world. The idea of Avi working with a PI and asking questions about a guys murder charges…this would spread faster than the silly little rumours Felix started.

I have adored these books, but Avi and Asa’s books have pushed me towards a limit…

As much as I’ve loved the twins in the other books their books have left me pretty…meh.

I have been waiting for Felix and Avi's book since Moonstruck and it didn't disappoint! I loved them! I also loved seeing what they were up to while Asa and Zane were running their investigation. I want more stories of about the four of them living together because that has to be a trip day in and day out.

After reading Headcase, I was worried about reading Avi's story. But damnnnn! It was so good! The Mulvany twins are mirror twins in physical appearance and in personality. Their books were also mirrored in a way. While Asa is dark, twisted, and dominant, Avi is sweeter and more submissive. Don't get me wrong, Avi still has his own darkness because after all, he is a psychopathic killer, but he is definitely different than Asa, especially with Felix. Speaking of Felix, I freaking love him! He is ahh. I don't even know how to explain him. I just love him. I loved Avi's and Felix's interactions both during spicy scenes and not. The fact that Avi called Felix "kitten" makes my heart explode. I can't handle that cuteness. Felix is probably one of my favorite boyfriends. He's sweet and adorable but also badass.
Something else I really enjoyed about this book is that it took place during the events of Headcase. Asa and Avi were separated. So in Headcase, we got Asa's experience and in Mad Man, we got Avi's. I thought it was clever to do it that way and very fitting that they both found their matches at the same time. When the stories diverged, aka when Mad Man continued on past the timeline of Headcase, we got to see the two couples interact and even though I struggled with Asa, I love this group of 4!  They're so drastically different but also not. Plus Felix and Zane bonding, oh my god! I can't. These interactions made me love Zane more than I did before. I just need more of these two being adorably sweet to each other and protective of one another. I love them.
I also liked that we got to see more of Aiden, which makes me even more excited for Maniac.
Overall so good! Definitely what I needed to bring me out of the darkness of Headcase.
