Overall this book was a fun read, but nothing really special. It was mostly fun for the dark romance elements and the characters were interesting enough. Overall, I didn't find the writing, especially in terms of character development, to be that engaging or interesting. I also didn't really get a strong sense of chemistry between the main characters - the banter felt a little off to me. I wish there had been more worldbuilding and information about the society of Olympus as the modern twist on that was interesting to me, and I wanted to learn more about how the society functioned/came to be.

This could have to do with the fact that I wasn't the biggest fan of the narrators for the audiobook - the voices and accents were just a little off for me, especially when they were speaking in the voice of another character (i.e. when the Hades narrator was reading Persephone dialogue), it often sounded like a caricature or like they were doing a funny imitation of the other person's voice, which pulled me out of the immersion.

I'm gonna be honest & say that I almost put this in my "Books I DNF'd" pile after the first chapter due to the age difference between Zeus & Persephone(He's in his 60's & she's 24

This was good. It could have been better. I feel like this is overhyped? I liked it overall, but something about it was lacking for me. Definitely want to read some others in the series though.

Ooh Well done! I will be purchasing this one to reread and absolutely waiting for the next.

The book summary tells you what you’re getting. I loved the Urban-Fantasy with the Olympus characters and power plays. On the smut side, I was a bit alarmed when Persephone was told to choose a safe word. If BDSM not your thing either and you are on edge about reading this, you’re probably fine—
SpoilerNothing made me uncomfortable or nervous for her. She experiments with and gets into exhibitionism. There is some very mild dom/submission. The only warning: if you aren’t ok with exhibitionism, this book is not for you.
