Cute, but not spectacular. Some parts lost me / dragged out.

the winter vibes in this book are immaculate. so much snow, hot chocolate, and storytelling. as for the actual plot, it's just ok. this was a re-read for me and really the only thing I remembered about it was the twist of meddy being a ghost and honestly I find this part kind of annoying along with the random love triangle that isn't really necessary. overall an adoreable mystery that I would def recommend to kids in 5-7 grade.

This one made me feel warm and cozy, and I may or may not have shed a tear a couple of times while reading this. Not that it’s a sad book; it was just very sweet and wholesome and made my heart ache in the best of ways. I’ll probably pick up the sequel soon.
dnf yet I wish nothing but the best for you on this journey
I loved this so much - it definitely reminded me of some childhood favorites, such as The Mixed Up Files of Mrs. Basil E Frankweiler and Gone-Away Lake, to name a couple--mostly the two kids working together to solve mysterious happenings aspect--but the setting was a character in itself, and it made the whole book very atmospheric (in a good way.) I will definitely read the second book in this series, although as to whether I need to read four or five books set in the same universe, we will see.
