Loved this book. I love Greek Myths and I love the gods and the hero’s. But I must say this book is book is very historically accurate, in some places. The amount of murder, violence and violence against women is crazy and almost put me off the book. But the love between Achilles and Patroclus is honestly the only thing that makes me believe in love.

That shit hurted. So happy I didn't feel lost for not having had a Percy Jackson phase. Even with a dozen names being listed in any given chapter, I was able to understand who was who and what was going on.
I knew it was sad but somehow still was caught off guard when Briseis dubbed Patroclus the best of the Myrmidons. I would've gone fucking apeshit if Patroclus never got his name on the tomb.

everywhere i looked i saw someone recommending this book or saying how much they loved it - i don't usually read hyped up books but i was interested to see if it actually was as good as people said.

i was able to finish it in about a week, i found it really easy to read and digest, though it was a learning curve figuring out the pronunciations of names!

i found the book interesting and likeable, but i was disappointed to find that it wasn't nearly as emotional or shell-shocking as everyone made it seem to be. i didn't find myself very attached to any of the characters besides patroclus, i wish the book had a bit more reflection and emotionality.

i did love the character deidameia even though she was only in a few pages, the way she was written was so expressive and cartoon-like, it really stuck out to me and made me wish she was a more important character. i loved how she was like a doll or child, she was probably one of the few characters that actually made me feel emotion.

overall, as someone that doesn't read fantasy or have any knowledge on greek mythology - i enjoyed the book and found myself interested in whatever was going to happen next, but the book did not meet my expectations (which i... expected, lol).

I had been in a reading slump and this book got me right out of it. this was exactly the type of book i love. Achilles did make me angry at quite a few points and even though i knew what was gonna happen it didn't drag. the writing was captivating and the main character was so real..i felt like i would do anything for him.
At the end though i was more distressed at the idea that Patroclus  might never rest in peace than the fact that he died.
overall,it played my emotions like a fiddle.
