Damn. The ending of the book really got me. I was wondering during the first book why Embry would reject Ash’s proposal twice, and I got my answer. I really didn’t know this side of him existed during the first book, and I’m glad I got this perspective; it was really interesting. I know the book keeps trying to hammer in the point that Embry is morally screwed up, but him having such vivid rape fantasies about Greer when he was rescuing her really didn’t sit right with me. It’s one thing to want to explore being dominant with her and things like that, but thinking about forcibly taking that as not part of a game is terrible. I’m so glad he gave her what she needed to feel safe and made sure they had a safe word when doing it; otherwise I might have DNF’ed. This book is much more BDSM and sex-heavy than the first one because introductions had already been made and relationships had already been formed, so it was even more intense than the first one. I personally think it’s too much at times, but it is interesting to read about simply for the fact that it’s a look into a way some people approach intimacy. I am looking forward to Ash’s perspective and how this will all come to an end.
Also, Guy Locke’s voice is perfect for this series.
Sierra Simone is a goddess! I want to crawl in her brain and live there. She gave us Priest and Poppy and one of the dirtiest hottest scenes I have ever read... you know the one.. with the holy oil... (shiver)
Well in book one of the American Queen trilogy, she gives us the most intelligently deviously written political story about an amazing man named names Maxen, who befriended a beautiful political Princess named Greer, and the most delicious trio I have ever read with Maxen's best friend Embry Moore.

He is the little Princes, Maven's little Prince. He submits to Maxen, and is fiercely loyal to him, to Greer and to his country. He will defend all three with his last breath.
In this story, we get an immediate continuation to the HUGE CLIFFY the Sierra Simone gives us at the end of book one.... they have captured the Queen.... right from under their noses and are threatening national security by that capture. Maxen rages with revenge, but he is bound by honor and position. As much as he wants to run into the night and save his Queen, he can not... and he turns to the other love in his life, Embry to bring their Queen home.
Embry risks life and limb to Maxen, and for Greer. In reality he is bringing his Queen back, because he is in much in love with her as is Maxen. I truly believe he loves her more. When the twists and turns in this amazing story turn him into a crusader, a Prince that is out to prove that he is the true one to the throne, you are left holding your breath, unbelieving the outcome, crying in pain and happiness, because Sierra Simone leaves you 100% captivated and making any deal with the devil to get the final story yesterday!

Did Not Finish (DNF) because I found it challenging to engage with this book. The first book was captivating and kept me invested, but I struggled to muster the motivation to read this one because it felt like an unpleasant chore. I found the frequent time jump from “before” to “after” scenes, coupled with Greer’s abrupt shift to Embry, to be jarring. Also, the explicit r*peplay made me feel VERY uncomfortable.
