If I could give 1/2 stars this one would be 3 1/2 . Just a touch above average. I found the story to be a little predictable. It kept my attention and there was nothing wrong with it - just not the homerun book for me.

Couldn’t put it down and finished it in one sitting which rarely happens for me.

Paris knows she’s about to be accused of murder when she wakes up surrounded by cops in her bathroom with her husband dead in the bathtub next to her. Oddly enough, that’s not what scares her. It’s all the media attention this is bound to bring because her husband is famous and she doesn’t need her past catching up to her. Twenty five years ago, Ruby Reyes was convicted of a similar murder and she knows who Paris really is and what she’s hiding. Now Ruby is threatening to expose Paris and she’s forced to face the demons of her past.

Honestly this was a pretty decent read! It keeps your attention, gives a couple plot twists that really add some suspense to the story. I wasn’t DYING to get back to reading (which is how I judge if a book is above average) but when I was reading, I was engaged and eager to see what happens next. An overall easy read that’ll keep your attention and keep you guessing where the story is going to end! A 3.5⭐️ from me (rounded up to 4 on goodreads) but if you normally love Hillier, you might give this a higher rating!

Reading this story felt like putting together a puzzle without the box to reference- you can slowly start to see where it’s heading, but when you finally see the full picture it’s so, so satisfying.

I went in blind, & I’m so glad I did! I didn’t expect this to be such emotionally charged story. The way the book was divided into parts, plus the multiple POVs uncovered the layered backstory in a way that kept me glued to the pages. While I did see a few of the twists coming, it really didn't matter or take away from the impact of the story at all. I was so invested in seeing how it all played out, & the end came together just right. An easy 5 stars!

This book was okay. The characters were very well defined, and the plot was good. It was the story itself that could use a bit of work. Too much time was spent in the past and not enough in the current time. I was completely confused as to who Drew was and why he was important to the story for a long time. Still trying to figure out why he was important and I've finished the book.

From the very first page, I was invested. The way the author started the book was perfection. She put me right in the middle of what was going down. From then on, I was flipping pages faster and faster, wanting to figure out all the secrets Paris had. Boy, did she have a lot! One of my only issues with the book was the amount of backstory. It got tedious, but I pressed on. Once everything came to fruition, the amount of backstory made sense. Though, it did give away the huge plot twist. I still enjoyed it. And there was one more plot twist to be had, but it also didn't come as a surprise. I liked the ending and it resolved everything brought up in the story.
