I'm very pleased with this one. I thought the story continued fantastically. There were twists and turns and at some points I was slamming my fist down in frustration.
I don't want to say too much on this one since I ran into a review that, unfortunately, didn't cover up the spoilers, so I'm a bit fuzzy on what happens in this one and what happens in the next, and last, book.

I can't believe how hooked I am on this trilogy. I still don't like Wendy because she's still spoiled and ungrateful. But upon further reading I've realized that Wendy and Finn's romance occured rather abruptly probably because she enjoyed having a strong, handsome young man take care of her.
In this book Wendy learns about her father, the Vittra king and the fall of the Trylle tribe if she is unable to become a good queen. A new character is introduced, the charming Vittra Markis named Loki. I loved him immediately. Of course, Wendy only had eyes for Finn even when Tove and Loki proposed to her. Damn. Even Rhys didn't have much of a part in this book. It all revolved around keeping the peace between Vittra and Trylle as long as the Queen was still alive and Wendy was still training.
I liked the fact that Elora's history was finally explained because I just knew she couldn't be a bad person. Everything she did was for her kingdom and for her daughter but she still grows weak.
So I enjoyed this book and I'm excited to read the final installment in the series. I know it's going to be a happily ever after between Wendy and Finn but I really like Tove and Loki. I want them to be happy too. Hopefully they'll find their soulmates.

I might have liked this one even more than the first one. This is a total cliff hanger so i'm glad i have the third one ready.

Staying on the nostalgia train rereading this series through audiobooks, choo choo!
I forgot how much better the second book was from the first to be honest. Most importantly... Loki! I genuinely thing Loki's character formed my entire type when I was an impressionable teen because I literally live for the sarcastic and roguish characters. Nowww it all makes sense.
One thing I noticed in the audiobook that was definitely not in the eBooks I read when I was younger, was Tove's sexuality! I absolutely adored that addition to the story, and I think it brings so much more life and understanding to his character.
Just everything about this book brought that little heartache that comes with reading something that was meaningful to you when you were younger. I still love it just as much.

This book does not have a major conflict or third act. What the hell. It joins the club with Keegan's Chronicles and the Elsker Saga as books that are actually just paperweights.
