Tropes/Themes:
-MF sports romance
-New adult (college setting)
-Forbidden (Quarterback x Coach’s Daughter)
-Friends to lovers (ish)
-Reverse grump sunshine (ish)
-Forced proximity (hero and heroine are neighbors)
-Hero falls first
-Dual POV
-Book #3 in an interconnected standalone series

I previously read Blind Side (book #2 in this series) and thought it was super overhyped, but I ended up enjoying this one quite a bit. Holden and Julep have been through so much loss in their lives, so it was sweet to see them experiencing healing and self discovery on the journey to their HEA. From the second he first laid eyes on her, Holden was completely smitten with Julep. Despite all of external pressure he was under and hardships he was still working through, his devotion for her never wavered.

The only thing I really didn’t like was Julep’s family dynamic, especially her dad (Holden’s coach) and his interactions with her. I totally understand trauma response and how the loss of a loved one can have a cascade effect on everyone in the family, but I thought his fixation on his daughter’s dating life and the sex life of his players was a little weird. While I understood that her mom was dealing with her own demons, I didn’t appreciate how easily she was able to slide back into Julep’s life after ignoring her for so long. It all just didn’t sit right with me.

Regardless, this installment has me reinvested in the series and I definitely plan on picking up the next book.

CWs for loss of a loved one, suicide, traumatic loss, substance use, and accidental overdose

A new lease on Life

Kandi's brought me to tears once again.
This story and its characters were so compelling and authentic.
The depiction of their personal struggles, and their individual reactions in dealing with grief had me crying and reminiscing in equal measures. Once you know the loss of a cherished love one, especially when their death occurred in traumatic circumstances, the pain never really goes away, and it can change you.
Seeing these characters' raw and heart wrenching emotions on page was both therapeutic, and moving.
I loved that Holden and Julep worked together to find joy. Being seen, loved and valued is so inherent to how we see ourselves. I enjoyed watching Julep blossom and bloom under Holden's watchful, tending hands, just as if she were part of his treasured garden.

I see you, everything that you are, and I’ve never needed anything more in my life.

I didn’t believe I would love Quarterback Sneak as much as Blind Side. My mistake for assuming because this book was freaking awesome, and I loved every page of it as much as I loved Blind Side (which was a lot by the way). Julep and Holden were the perfect couple for a college / sport romance.

I wanted him so badly I’d let him devour every bit of everything that I was. I’d let him banish me from existence, to wipe me off the face of the planet if it meant I got to succumb to this moment right now.

These characters had a solid, blooming development. I loved getting to know them, to see them struggle and fall in love. I cared for them. I was so invested in their story that I didn’t even notice that I was reaching the end with every turning page.

Something I noticed. As in Blind Side, where the two mcs shared a common trauma but expressed it differently, the same happened in this book. Both Julep and Holden are severely wounded characters by similar events in their lives but have reacted to them in extremely different manners. Witnessing their healing process and connection was just wholesome.

Again, as in Blind Side, it is not that plot is unique but it is addictive, the characters are magnificent and the writing is amazing. All this together resulted once again in a brilliant, easy-to-read book. Now to the first one!

Did I like it? Love it!
Would I read it again? For sure

TW before reading this *chef's kiss* masterpiece: mentions of drugs abuse and overdose

Holden Moore holding his baby cousin. Julep pole dancing. I don't need to say more. You need to pick up this book and read it.

Plot is good. But I need a strong, heart breaking female rage from Julep!

Would they be each other's end game? With how Holden was willing to sacrifice his career for Julep? Absolutely.
