this book is one of those rare cases where I wanted to read the book and was so intrigued by it and the writing while also hating every one of the characters so singularly. I'll admit that they were all properly fleshed out and... whole, in a sense. but GOD they're so fucking annoying to a fault like everyone is so overwhelmingly white and Rancid and even the characters who aren't just feel so meh. and the character arcs are so incomplete like what was the point of quentin's transfemme awakening arc ??? and what was the point of anders at all tbh. the only character i truly liked was santiago and the sugar glider. everyone else can truly fuck off imo

This book made me crash out in the middle and mean opinion, but IDGAF about Eleanor (the ending did make my eyes glassy tho)

An interesting study of an unusual couple navigating life in NYC that sometimes lacks a concrete plotline. Strangely the side characters were the most interesting parts of the story to me, I particularly loved Eleanors first person diary- or post- like POV, and wish there had been more chapters devoted to Zoe and Santiago.
The more negative sides of the relationship seemed at points not fleshed out enough to leave an impact, whereas the funnier moments actually got me laughing out loud at times. A good depiction of the ups and downs of interpersonal relationships but mostly of living in New York, with intriguing side characters and a peculiar but thus beautiful writing style.

Can Whoever gave this book more than 2 or 3 stars please explain it to me maybe i missed something ? Because i could not for the life of me like the characters who are both assholes and extremly under developped nor the plot which had potential but was executed very poorly , the author tried so hard to make this book something it's not and it came out messy and unlikeable i almost DNFed twice at 20% then again at around 60% but forced myself to finish it so i can give it a proper rating, the only reason i gave this two stars instead of one was because i liked the ending and felt like it was suitable
