I will be completely honest here and say I started this series for Jacks. I hope I will finish it till the[b: A Curse for True Love|62816044|A Curse for True Love (Once Upon a Broken Heart #3)|Stephanie Garber|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1674501506l/62816044._SY75_.jpg|98584656] comes out. It's a popular series, so I thought I'd finish this book and immediately run to read the second one, but the first one turned out to be just fine for me. I guess it didn’t live up to the hype for me, or it's just the first book, and the next two are better. I don’t know, we will see.
The plot was okay, though it didn’t suck me up from the beginning as I thought it would. I actually dnfed the first time I picked it up, but decided to give it a second chance.
My main problem here was the main characters. I didn’t connect to the at all. I didn’t even particularly like them. Scarlett and Donatella were fine. Julian had some great moments though. His nicknames were sweet. I mean, if a man called me 'love', I would melt. He was pretty funny too.
Dante is, or probably will be, more mentioned in the second book, so we will see what I will think of him.
Also. Lies and secrets here? At one point I was so confused that I no longer knew what or whom I should believe.
I hope I will finish this series in time.

This was recommended all over booktok so I thought I would try it. It was pretty annoying. A cool concept, but not super well written. I probably would’ve enjoyed it more if I read it as a teenager.

I enjoyed the writing style; it was whimsical and beautifully crafted. The characters were very well introduced and written. EVERYONE Julian is mine for now. Julian and Scarlett are my Roman empire.
This book was not that bad. I just expected something more. The betrayals and the comebacks were predictable so it was not jaw dropping for me. However, that one twist did make my eyes go wide.

First of all, i love this world!
I love the magic aspect in this book which is cool and mysterious. But maybe, i will just be the watcher than the player in Caraval😂 because it makes me terrified at the same time.
