Five families from five Immortals are the descendants of Time (the Clockers), Fate (the Seers), Nature (Shifters), War (Mongers) and Death (Suckers). For the descendant’s things are about to get complicated. Loyalties shall be tried.

Saira Elian managed to save her mother but at a great cost. Her Clocker skills are getting better and better. But the prophecy is still ongoing, and it isn’t getting any easier. A vision tells her that she needs to travel back to the Elizabethan Era. Also, one of my favourite times in history. I’m a serious history nerd.

But a sucker and a clocker aren’t enough you know. What would this book be without the 1888 urchin Ringo? And they are up against adversaries in both times. There is a time split that is about to happen and somehow Saira/Archer and Ringo need to save Lady Elizabeth.

There are so many fantastic characters in the book and over the next couple of books I know where I want the plot to go but will Ms. White take us there or shall it be something completely different? I love Mr. Shaw, Ms. Simpson and even the Millicent has something about her.

The plot, the history, the development is all captivating and has depth and substance which lets face it we need in our books. The pace of the book is perfect. Why did I dock a star? Saira kept on running away from her problems and she shouted at the future Queen of England I mean show some restraint woman.

I finished this book in one day so that is saying how good this book and this series is. I have already ordered book 3 and feel as if I can’t start anything until I finished this series.

Tempting Fate is the second book in the Immortal Descendents series and I really enjoyed this one. Oh, it was so much fun! Note: It is a continuation of the first book and not a standalone story.

Now I will say at first, the first 50 or 60 pages, Saira was super annoying. Whiny, acting out, stupid kid which I don't really like. I...she got on my nerves. Yes, I know her mother left her when she was twelve, but oh, she likes to be poor me and make small things into big deals. But then the story got more interesting and Saira started to be a bit better for me. There were still times when I was like honey, you need to grow up and stop acting out when people call you on something you do that is not particularly nice or kind to other. Or stop lashing out when someone tells you something that is true, but you just don't want to hear. For this I loved Elizabeth. She was such a force to be reckoned with! I almost wish we could have more Elizabeth in future books!

So in this chapter, we have Saira and Archer and Ringo trying to find the genealogy book and correct a wrinkle in time so that their present is not completely different than what it should be. And so that the future, or maybe now past, for lots of people wasn't incredibly bad. Normally I have an issue with time travel stories, the time travel doesn't make sense to me, but in this one I loved the way the author used it. How she explained what would happen if someone changed something small or something big in the past. Like if Elizabeth didn't end up becoming queen how that could have a major effect on the present. And how people can't be in the same time that they already exist. It was fun.

Now I read this after reading An Urchin of Means, after falling in love with Ringo and oh, my heart broke from him in this story. To have a vision of what might happen with him was so sad. And Saira not telling the truth or everything she know and just doing whatever she wanted didn't help. She definitelty was still a kid in this story, but by the end she does start to change. She starts to grow up and think of others. She starts to see that she hurts those who care about her and when she just runs off and does whatever it doesn't seem like she she cares for them. She started off super annoying, but by the end she had gotten better. More considerate of others feelings. More caring with those she cares about. For as much as she annoyed me in parts I loved seeing her grow and become a better person. I can't wait to see what the next chapter has in store for me.

Besides all of these characters you also have an awesome historical element to the story. With Saira being able to clock back in time you get to see the past like I haven't read before. I wasn't super interested in Elizabeth and her plight, but once they got back to help her it was fascinating. The author makes the history so much fun that the characters are involved with. I can't wait to see medieval France through the eyes of these characters! And see who we will meet along the way.

More of the same as Time, only... less.
Our 17 year old time travelling heroine and her ragtag bunch of Vampire boyfriend and Dickensian Urchin are off chasing bad guys again. This time it's to the Tower of London before the reign of Elizabeth I to prevent the time stream "splitting" and irrevocably changing both past and future.

I missed the other students at the school, and I missed the school. The cast of characters was much smaller in this one especially when the aforementioned Ragtag Bunch were Conveniently Scripted Out for plot development reasons.

Not too disappointing. But not as much spark as the first

I received Tempting Fate in return for an honest review from the author. Saira is once again being hunted by Mongers who are after all the mixed bloods. With the help of Archer and her friends Saira is able to figure out what Bishop Wilder is doing. When Saira wakes from a dream that Archer is seeing they know that Ringo will be at the hands of the bishop at some point in the future even if it was in the past. When they team up with a few of her friends to steal the genealogy from the mongers they realize only a thief will be able to. So Saira jumps back in time to get Ringo knowing he would be up to helping them with the book.

After saving the book they turn their attention to the vision that they had of Bishop Wilder with Ringo back during 1554. With the help of Ringo the trio head back in time to when Elizabeth Tudor was being held by her sister. The plan is to stop Bishop Wilder before he can break the time and keep Ringo away from him but when they arrive things are more dire than they expected. Elizabeth has accepted the fact that she is going to die being that she’s a seer who’s seen her own death. Saira will have to save Elizabeth from the chopping block and stop Bishop Wilder before it’s too late and things can’t be fixed.

Saira is one of my favorite characters she may have a few flaws but no one is perfect. I love that even when in the 1500’s she’s still wears her combat boots and jeans under her dresses so if she needed to run she would be ready. I also love that she’s very much in love with Archer he’s just the perfect guy who happens to fit the prophecy . I really liked that we had a chance to see more of Ringo he was one of my favorite from the prior book. I also liked seeing more of the other Immortal Descendants.

Tempting Fate is the second book in The Immortal Descendants and continues off not long after the end of the first. Tempting Fate had big shoes to fill after how much I loved the first book and it doesn't disappoint it might even be better. The concept of time travel but with an exciting new twist that incorporates real events from the past. A fast paced action packed novel loaded with mystery, suspense and even romance. Tempting fate captured my heart and imagination right from the start it was impossible to put down till the very end. I loved how the author used Elizabeth’s story putting her own unique spin and creating a new obsession in the Tudor Era. The author has created a beautifully written story that flows from start to finish it’s easy to lose all track of time. I like that the novel is also clean aside from a little blood so teens as well as adults will enjoy it. I think I found my favorite book of 2014. I can’t wait for the next novel and to see what we have in store for us next. I loved Tempting Fate so much!!!

3.5 rounded up to 4
Buddy read with Lenore and Berls.
The character development here was well done, Saira is growing, and she’s starting to become more mature and a little bit more trusting.
The time travel parts were really well done, and I enjoyed the history attached to that as well.
The overall plot was exciting, and I look forward to reading the next book in the series.

I love this series, LOVE it. The characters, the time travel (which I usually don't like), the storyline... It just rocks! It has been a long wait but TEMPTING FATE was so worth it.

It doesn't take long for the action to start. In fact the books open up with Saira running through the woods from danger, getting your heart pumping with a nice pace and the pace doesn't slow down until the book is over. The blurb does a really fantastic job of explaining what book 2 was about. I really loved that all of our favorite characters are involved at some point. Ringo is a pretty important part of the group and I couldn't imagine him not being involved. The world building that goes into a series like this is pretty extensive and April does such a good job of making it easy to understand. I had no problem picturing myself in the book at any point. So much happens in TEMPTING FATE and I don't want to give anything away, but know that no one is left unchanged in some way by the end.

The relationship between Saira and Archer isn't easy. Archer has loved Saira for a really long time while Saira has only loved him for a short amount compared. Archer gives Saira her space to figure things out but it takes something drastic for her to finally realize she can't live without him and even after that she has to find a way to let him into her life and stop doing everything on her own. Their relationship is pretty strong by the end of TEMPTING FATE and I admit it is one of my favorite parts of the series.

All that I wanted when TEMPTING FATE ended was to read more. April PLEASE don't make us wait as long as we did for book 2, I need more.

This one felt messier compared to the first. I didn’t dislike it, but at times I did have to convince myself to carry on hoping it’d get better.

At the beginning of this one, there was some really weird stuff happening between Adam and Saira. So, in the first book there’s kinda potential for them to like one another but it ends in “nah, he’s like a brother to me” but then in this one he almost kisses her (while they’re both in relationships btw) but two seconds later is like “oh well I only flirt because I know nothing will ever happen between us”. I feel like the author needs to really figure out how these two are gonna because they keep flipfloping and I’m not a fan.

Also, Saira didn’t learn her lesson from the first book. Remember when she kept Archer becoming a vampire from him and it caused this big drift? Well she did it again. This time we see her not telling Ringo that he’s gonna get tortured…fun. To be fair, they do go through this whole emotional thing where she seemingly has some character development and decides to trust the guys some more. I’ll just have to wait to see if that development stays in the next book.

As much as I’ve been complaining, I did enjoy this one despite it being a bit of a mess. I feel like a lot of things happened to advance the plot and I’m really curious to see what happens next.
