I enjoyed the beginning part of this book, but once we got to know the main character I just didn’t like it. I didn’t enjoy her personality and the book felt poorly written. At some points the book just dragged on but in others it felt too rushed (not good pacing). This book just wasn’t for me!

I really enjoyed this book! I got a lot of the vampire diaries vibes from it (110% not complaining, may be team Damon for once in my life), and I thought the world building was phenomenal! I am really looking forward to the other two books in the series coming out this year, and I can’t wait for see what is in store!

A great take on "Atlantis", The Sunken City brings magic, pirates, royalty and mystery.

A YA Fantasy Romamce, The Sunken City is a wonderful, magical read. The world building is incredible, the characters are individual, distinct, there personalities quickly bringing them to life.

We follow Amare, an orphan girl raised on a pirate ship who must quickly learn to femd for herself. When she comes across a Sunken treasure that literally changes her life, bringing her below sea level to the Sunken City. She finds she is not only Sereia, but a lost princess, heir to the Sunken City's throne.

This story kept me interested from the start to finish, and I am so looking forward to the sequel. Finn vs Lukas, I can't even decide. I love a bad boy, but something about Finn draws me in.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Wow. Who knew that a Pirate/Mermaid/Magical world Fantasy was something that I need in my life! This book gives Pirates of the Caribbean x The Little Mermaid vibes and I am so here for it. There was almost a bit of an element of sci-fi with the above-water world being in the 1700s(ish?) and the underwater worlds being so advanced that they were basically functioning like our modern-day society. It was a refreshing juxtaposition to read.

So engrossing that I devoured it in a couple of days once I got through the first couple of chapters. There were a few sections throughout the book that didn't flow so easily to read

I loved Amare as a character from the very start. I feel like 14-year-old me would have definitely connected with her and wanted to be a pirate just like her. My heart broke and ached multiple times along with this heroine.

A YA Fantasy with a dash of history, enemies to lovers, found family, arranged marriage, a love triangle and of course the whole lost princess thing.

I’m so excited to get onto ready book #2 and can’t wait to get my hands on physical copies of these books!!

The Sunken City is a YA fantasy series involving pirates, an underwater world, magic, and prophecies. This was one of those reads where I couldn’t wait to see what happened but at the same time didn’t want it to end; it ended on a cliffhanger so I had to get the newest book in the trilogy (The Fallen Witch) right away! The storytelling in this was just

Amare Bellamy is a feisty young pirate with a deep connection to the ocean. Her life has not been easy but she is not one to sit back and whine. She is determined to captain her own ship one day! When she finds an old treasure chest with a magical secret, her life is turned upside down. Quite literally actually. She discovers an strange underwater kingdom and must learn to navigate all the strange new aspects of who she is.

This book is everything that I love in a fantasy story. Pirates, underwater kingdoms, magic, treasure, friendship, romance, intrigue, surprise plot twists and fantastic worldbuilding! I was completely transported into Amare's world and cannot wait for more. The character diversity is brilliant. I really admire how the author is able to stay so true to two very different societies. The human world is in the 1700s with all the societal norms of that time but the Sunken City has advanced in such a way that I feel right at home in the modern world it represents. Each society has its weaknesses and Emma Noyes brings the differences out so beautifully.

All in all a brilliant book and a must read for fantasy lovers.
