I went straight from Incandescent into Affliction with no break in between. Yes, it is that kind of series. Finish one, pick up the other, pray for quick release for the next.

In Incandescent we met Holly and Sy through Nix and Kadence. We knew there was something going on between them but didn’t get a clue as to what it was until near the end of the first book. Even then we didn’t know what Holly was going to do.

This line right here describes the Sy we first met perfectly.

“F***, this man is dangerous with his bad-boy attitude, his sexy as hell dirty mouth and his ability to take me on the highest of highs in less than a minute.”

Then we get to really know Sy. There is so much underneath hard exterior. Sy has been through hell and back, lived a nightmare that no one should have to live. There’s a reason behind his anger, his silence, his stay away attitude.

I think I loved Sy even more than I loved Nix. I say that now until I start reminiscing about Nix while I write my review for Incandescent.

I really liked Holly too. I enjoyed her as Kadence’s best friend in the first book but now we get to know her, watch her work through her recovery and her loss.

These two are just perfect for each other. Sy and his attitude and Holly with her sarcasm, she plays off him of him perfectly.

I hope the next book comes soon! I haven’t peeked ahead to see if she has told whose book it is going to be, but as much as I was hoping it would be Jesse’s at first, I’m now hoping it’s Beau’s. There’s something building there and I want to read it like yesterday.

Loved this book! Love the series! River is going on my cannot miss a book, favorite author list.

5 stars!

Thank you so much for my copy of Affliction!

Sexy, Badass Biker

This book is a amazing. There was so much heartache from both Holly and Sy but I was so happy that they worked through it all and had their happily ever after.
Can't wait for Jesse's story. He's going to so fall hard.

Summary
Holly has a connection to the Knights Rebels, her best friend is practically engaged to their leader. There is one man she has had her eye on Sy. Sy is harsh and a grouch in Holly’s mind and she has a mind to butter him up. But after they share a a couple of steamy nights together, Holly has a surprise, but then she ends up kidnapped, and shot and her life goes down the drain and her mind is in shock and severe grief. She distances herself from everyone for months. Sy has his own past, a past that torments him every night with nightmares. When Holly goes through her own darkness, he knows he is the only one that can bring her back to the light. Its been three months, and little by little he starts to see his Holly again, vibrant and beautiful. But there is a secret that Holly is keeping from Sy, a secret that could destroy the trust and affection they have built with each other…

The Hero
Sylas Dean is a member of the Knights Rebels, his past is murky, and he still suffers from grief and dreams that haunt him. His world is anger and his painful past. He works as a tattoo artist, he is satisfied with his life now, away from any emotional attachments, to be withdrawn and do his duties. I found I loved Sylas, he is very different from our hero in the first book of the series. He is rougher around the edges and in the beginning I wasn’t sure what I thought of him. But after the “Event” you see more in-depth in his character, and his demons, and I fell for him instantly. He is tough and hard, but on the inside is emotionally vulnerable. He has this determination and iron will that I found admirable.

The Heroine
Holly is quite the independent and spirited heroine. She works at a hair salon, she has a connection to the Knights, and she is instantly attracted to Sy and she finds him too brooding and frowns all the time. She is energetic and sees life in a positive way. We see her suffer through a traumatic event, and she withdraws from everyone she loves. We see her inner strength though, and how she deals with pain, I loved seeing her grow in this story, and learn some painful lessons, lessons I feel are necessary if she wants to understand Sy in any real way.

Plot and Story Line
Affliction is the second book in the series, and with each book I read from this author the more I am impressed. If you like Bella Jewel or Joanna Wylde, you need to try this author out. Ever since reading the first book, I have been wanting to try Emma and Sy’s story. This story was so different from what I was expecting, which is good, because I do love a story that brings a bit more than what you expect from it. I enjoyed seeing these two come together, and it doesn’t happen in the average way. Both of the characters suffer from a trauma, and you see how they help each other heal, despite the secrets they both keep from each other. I want to keep this review straight and to the point so I don’t give out too many spoilers, but what I enjoyed most from this story was seeing the emotional development. There is quite a bit of sensual interludes, and boy are they HOT!! So no worries on that score, but you also see that as the plot develops you see the character become more entrenched in the story, and we see Sy and Emma grow emotionally. This is a roller coaster of grief, pain, determination, and finding love exactly when you need it most. For those that haven’t tried this author or the first book, I would highly recommend you try out the first book, “Incandescent” because you get more background on the story and trust me you won’t regret it if you enjoy biker romances.

The Cover
This cover is just so sexy and gorgeous. I love the stance of the hero here, with the slight scruffiness on this face, and all that beautiful art on his body….with the black and white theme, and the purple lettering.

Overall View
Affliction is an emotional biker romance that will have you on edge, a story of overcoming the worst pain and accepting the greatest love, a story of healing and finding hope in the bleakest of moments. TRULY MAGICAL!!

There was more happening here than I expected there to be. Though, to be honest, that synopsis above makes it seem much much darker than it really is. It was a cute story, and sure there were some lies, but they all kind of made sense in the story.

Based on what happens in book one - you can't even be slightly shocked that these two are what book two is all about. There were strong hints all throughout it. I'm a bit impressed with Holly though - I figured she was simple and flakey. But I was wrong (pleasant surprise). And Sy, I was expecting to be a bit deeper than appeared and was happy to be right.

The story pretty much centred around them. Though there was some intrigue going on. I really liked this book and am excited for the next one to come out.

River Savage, you winningly nailed it.

It has been a while since I read the first book in this series, so I didn't remember every detail, but the important parts came back to me. I wanted to really like this story, but it didn't quite live up to 4 star caliber for me.

It starts out overlapping the events of [b:Incandescent|22152589|Incandescent (Knights Rebels MC, #1)|River Savage|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1403783293s/22152589.jpg|41497483], but told from a different point of view. I really didn't like how Holly was portrayed in this overlap, and maybe that was intentional, but even when the tragedy happened, I couldn't shake my dislike of her, especially when she acted like a wimp and couldn't open up about everything that happened there.

Sy didn't help matters any, with his attitude, especially when his attitude got the better of him and he acted like a jerk to everyone. However, he had a good reason for not opening up and having a bad attitude, and it was shown in a series of flashbacks. I liked how we got to see the resolution of his past in this story.

We got a better look at club life and I could see some connections being made for subsequent stories. The story didn't drag, but it wasn't that great either. Definitely interested in continuing the series, but this isn't a good link in the chain for me.

I thoroughly enjoyed Sy and Holly's story. Even more so then it's predecessor, Affliction really packs a punch with the storyline.

Redemption, forgiveness, love, strength and growth are all neatly woven into Affliction.

Sy's character was such an enigma to me, I couldn't wait to see deeper into his head and find out his story. River definitely doesn't let you down!

Of course she did a great job writing another great female character and weaving secondary characters more thoroughly throughout this book.

A great addition to the series!
