Two of my favorite things brought into one book — Tessa Bailey and true crime

3.5 rounded up. This was my first Tessa Bailey book. I didn’t absolutely love it, but I definitely didn’t hate it either. I enjoyed the relationship between Taylor and Myles, but I really would have liked just a tad bit more of the murder mystery part. Overall was a quick read that kept my attention. Will be reading more of her books!

This book was so cute. It was a steamy, bad boy, good girl age gap romance that also brought a mystery to the table. I did not guess the plot twist. I thought the balance between mystery and romance was well executed and Ms Tessa Bailey can do no wrong.

I’m pretty into this one! Mostly romance with a dash of suspense. I clocked the bad guy pretty quick, but not so much that it felt super obvious that the characters would’ve missed it.

I really adored that they both had to grow in order to trust they could be together. I loved that Myles had his own praise kick and needs, and that even if he didn’t know how to express them, Taylor could still find a way to meet them.

This felt more insta-lust than insta-love, which is something I can get behind. Especially with these two and where they were coming from in their lives, I’m glad that there remained a bit of antagonism in their relationship while they figured each other out.

I wish there was slightly more of an ending - in particular would’ve wanted to hear more about Myles’ development after our last chapter, but it felt resolved enough, and I love that the epilogue mentioned
that they were taking things slow, and got engaged after two years.

Taylor is on a vacation with her brother Jude in Cape Cod, she hopes this will help him recover from a recent loss. As they pull into the driveway of their rental home, Taylor is looking forward to the tub she saw in the house's pictures before renting it. She didn't expect to discover a corpse. She has been a true-crime consumer for years, and she thinks she can crack the case. Her efforts will soon be squashed when a grumpy bounty hunter comes to repay a favor. Myles likes to ride solo, and isn't looking into having a partner to share his life, not even mention help him solve this case. They are attracted to each other, and even if Myles doesn't like it, he'll have to pay close attention to Taylor if he wants to keep her safe.
This was too insta-lovy and cheesy. I didn't like the pairing though I did like the smut scenes. Tessa Bailey does know how to write them well. Is this a romantic suspense? I don't know, I've never read one before; but I feel like this is more a romance with some murder-mystery bits.

I devoured this book. I have been DYING to read it since it came out and I finally got my hands on a copy. It was small but packed a lot within it (hehe).
