This book is still enjoyable, even if I don't find it as thrilling as The Princess Diaries. It is a fun filler type book and it is fun to see Meg drop hints of things to come in future books as well as in other series that she intended to write slowly come to light in here.

Mia is having to deal with a lot more than just princess duties in this book. Early on her mother lets her know that she is pregnant with Mia's algebra teacher's baby. In my last review I kind of forgot to mention that bit that they were dating. Considering how she had already had Mia without being married, she figured that maybe she would have to help her mother out and raise the child together. However, Mr G is a decent guy and decides to make an honest woman out of her, asking her mother to marry him, so within a few weeks they are getting ready for a wedding.

Lily is once again upset with Mia when she finds out that she has agreed to do an interview with 24/7 (of course set up by her father and grandmere) when she claims that Mia has already agreed to give the first official interview to Lily now that she has been outed as a princess.
In the mean time, Mia is getting messages from a secret admirer who goes by the name JoCrox. She is hoping that it is possibly Michael, who is still making his presence known in this book tutoring Mia during class and asking her how she is.

It all culminates on Halloween, with a wedding for her parents and her finding out who her secret admirer is at a viewing of The Rocky Horror Picture Show.
You can definitely tell it was from a different time though, as the World Trade Centers are mentioned as being viewable, and many pop culture references in the book.
It is overall enjoyable, and I loved having the reread though I am highly anticipating the next book as it is one of my favorites.

This book is definitely showing that Mia, as a character, is starting to grow up and learn from her past mistakes. She's still a teen, but she is growing and learning, which is important in character development. And hey, this is only a month after the first book, so that's not too bad!
I love this series and I will probably never not love these books but I just realized how annoying Lilly is and how much she can get away with D: She is the only character I don't like and who doesn't really grow at all but I love all the other characters in this series and I love short and sweet books in said series.
3.5 stars. I really enjoyed this book. It wasn't as good as the other one, but I really did like it. I loved Mia's mom in this one. It was great. Can't wait for the next one :)
Initial Thoughts
So clearly movie #2 is going to be nothing like this book since Mia hasn’t even gone to Genovia yet. No expectations then!
My New BFF
I’m liking Mia so far. She’s a pretty decent main character. I’m really not liking Lily. She annoys me and I hate it when characters are annoying. I’m looking forward to seeing Mia in a bigger role though. I can’t wait to see what it’s like when she starts acting more like a princess.
My Crush
I’m not liking any of the male characters yet in this book. Stay tuned!
Writing Style
I’m finding Meg Cabot’s writing is really fun and easy to read. Her characters are a little underdeveloped but I’m hoping she remedies that in the next book. The plot was pretty fun to read even though it could be slow at times. Either way I’m still looking forward to the next book.
Closing Thoughts
I can see potential in this series even though the start so far hasn’t been incredible. That’s ok. Some series need a slower start to make room for a great ending. I’ve heard good things about this series so I’m hoping it doesn’t let me down!

I know I'm not a kid anymore but I did rather enjoy this lighthearted, fun, easy read. I think Mia is a believable character and the ridiculous situations she gets involved in are funny.
