75% tmi raunchy, women's funny stuff. 20% really funny stuff. 5% serious and interesting.
I literally laughed out loud, and not many comedians can do that with their books. I, as a reader, has to put in the pauses and work on comedic timing. Her sarcastic, dry wit made for a great read. She was sassy without being too crude. It's a frank discussion of different events, and not meant for the shock value. I appreciated that.

I expected this one to be funny, but light...a total summer beach read. I was very wrong in the very best way. I listened to Girl with the Lower Back Tattoo on audio because Amy Schumer narrates and I love to hear an author read her own book. The book was thoughtful, vulnerable, honest, and funny when it needed to be. Amy describes a childhood with dysfunctional parents, her father's MS, a sexual assault, the male-dominated world of stand-up comedy, and her relationship to "women's roles" in a way that has you nodding, laughing, and at times, even shedding a tear. She hit the nail on the head with this book and I came away from it liking her even more than I already did. Highly recommended.
I really enjoyed this book - ALL of the content. So why give it 4 stars instead of 5 Ashley?! Because of how quickly I'd go from laughing to what the actual fuck, now I'm depressed..
There was no warning, no transitioning from one emotion to the other so it was a little confusing. But I liked everything that was said in the book - and I'm a sucker for when there's pictures throughout. VISUALS <3<3<3
Obviously I'd only recommend this if your a fan of Amy Schumer. If you still have yet to experience her, I'd recommend this book to you as well.

Some chapters were hilarious. Her approach to writing it was discussing serious life experiences and tried to lighten them up with humor. Overall I like that Amy put her story out there with relatable topics.
Technically this book should be marked as half-read. Or not quite that much. I got tired of it and took it back to the library unfinished. Early. I just didn't find it that interesting. Or funny. Or entertaining. There were moments, but I can't deal with the me me me me me stuff right now, so I'm going back to inhaling Hillerman novels and wishing for more Louise Penny and Tana French mysteries.
