This book is everything to me. I know what it’s like to lose someone in your life. I’ve known my whole life. And this book has demonstrated every struggle I’ve had and still have to go through.

All the characters were amazing. Seeing how they uplifted each other through the toughest moments but also laughed, smiled, and just simply live was everything and more. Seeing the character growth of everyone is really the center of this book for me. Finding a community like that is something I hope to find one day.

I have never cried like I have for this book. I cried throughout the book. Sad, happy, mad, all the emotions were expressed through my tears. From the dedication to the acknowledgements I loved this book. I wished it would never end. But as the book said, nothing ever truly ends.

I’ve learned soooo much through the book. Grief is always different for everyone. Everyone goes through it differently at different paces. I know that now. Death will always be a tough topic for me but maybe as Savannah, Cael, Travis, Dylan, Lili, Jade, and everyone else found the tools to handle the grief, I will too. Maybe I’ll also pick up the thousand broken pieces of myself.

Being the same age as Savannah and seeing how her life panned out, all I can hope is that I will find that path too. Maybe one day I’ll find my Rune as she did. But more than that, I hope to travel multiple countries and live for the people I lost.

Whilst I wouldn’t say that this book was better than “A thousand boy kisses” it was still amazing. Either way it would have been hard to top the first book since I remember it as one of my favourite books. However, “A thousand broken pieces” was still heartbreaking and really touched me. I loved the relationship between Savannah and Cael and the way they helped each other overcome their grief to have a better future together. One thing I will say though, is that a lot of things were repeated unnecessarily. It often felt like I was reading pages I had already read multiple times before and the book could’ve been much shorter. For the last 100 pages I was just wishing to finally be able to finish the book. Apart from that, the book was great. I unfortunately didn’t cry since I was surrounded by family members the whole time whilst reading it and simply felt like the tears were unable to appear. Heartbreaking nonetheless and I felt like it clearly showed the fight with grief and how all-consuming it can become.

i enjoyed this one! not as much as the first one but was still an enjoyable read - thought it was an important follow up to the first to remind us that love doesn’t end in death, and for some people it starts with death.
