Temp review:
I had some real problems with this book (see the notes if you can) but basically, I found that blog posts which had mentioned it were overselling it. Things that were mentioned as downloads from the site should have been included. Ultimately, it felt like the transcript of a weekend or single-day workshop. Really, really unattractive writing.

And while I did find one or two nicely parsed out clauses, the book didn't offer me what I thought I was gonna read about: The Level 10 Life. A vague tier system to assess if you are getting everything you want from your life...

Life S.A.V.E.R.S. also turned out to be partially hogwash. Too bad.

It should’ve been a blog post instead of a book, but good and helpful ideas.

The basic premise behind this book is actually good, but despite NOT being much of a self-help book reader, everything he had to say was very basic and obvious knowledge to me. And for such a short book it was quite repetitive and drew from countless OTHER books, so it didn’t ever feel like he was bringing much new knowledge forward. It really just felt like something that should’ve been a long article or blog post but was expanded unnecessarily to be book-length.

Uitgelezen in ongeveer 2 uur. Erg vervelend.
inspiring fast-paced

i usually don’t give out five stars but this book deserved it, one of the best self improvement books i’ve read in a long time.

Listened to this audiobook again to prepare for 2021

This is truly the most uplifting and truly applicable self help/personal growth book I have ever read, and I’ve read a lot! So many amazing strategies and quotes. I started my own Miracle Morning 30 day journey just today and I am excited to see the amazing places it takes me

I picked this up because I really enjoyed Elrod's other book The Miracle Equation. But this one is inferior in terms of readability, advice offered and ease of implementation. There are some glaring (and slightly infuriating) inconsistencies.

The whole premise is that you can wake up one hour earlier and do a whole slew of self-development activities: meditation, affirmations, visualisation, reading, journaling, exercise. Yes, all of that in one hour apparently. At one point in the book he says that "you could just put on a P90X DVD for your exercise." Grrr! I have done P90X, some of the sessions are over an hour long by themselves. What are you talking about Hal!?

Also, I do journaling every morning already. The book recommends to write for 5 minutes. So unrealistic! Especially for people who might be a bit slow to get going in the mornings. It can sometimes take me an hour to just write one page.

The book is not very healthy for a wide selection of people. It makes it sound like a personal failure of willpower if you need 8 hours of sleep or if you don't simply jump out of bed in the morning, like a kid at Christmas. Or if you need more than 5 minutes to journal, meditate etc.

That said, there were some rare moments of insight. And if you're curious about becoming a morning person, this book is definitely better than the 5AM Club.

Hal Elrod was extremely motivational and really did inspire me to start waking up early. Unfortunately, I didn't stick with my goal. It doesn't mean I quit trying but I do go back to the book to reread certain parts that motivate me. It's a great book with some really great ideas. I took away a star because I really hate when I have to read about the "extras" on a website or when pages are just filled up with testimonials. I only need to read a few to understand the book has helped people or I could just look it up.
