He kisses me gently the first second, and then without apology, deeply, like the revving of a rocket engine, followed by the launch into space, and then I’m in a galaxy of pure bright stars and endless night, lost and weightless, warmed by a sun I cannot see, his mouth a hungry vortex, a delicious black hole, sucking me in.
OMG!!!!!!!!!!I have no words for Mr. President right now but simply be in awe of it. Wow, that was literally one of the best politically based books I have ever read. I was up until 3am reading Mr. President and I was left with so much emotion and basically flipping all the pages frantically saying, 'That's it'. I even yelled a bit because I was moved by the story. A few books do that to me and this book was one of them. I was amazed. I was even speechless. Mr. President was perfect politically charged story filled with scandal, romance and sexiness. I fell in love with it.
I have been a massive fan of Katy Evans. She is one of those authors I one click instantly with no hesitation. When I got Mr. President, I was so excited because I simply love her and the story grabbed my attention just like that. I was not disappointed at all. From the first page, I was hooked. I simply could not take my eyes of it. Everything about Mr. President was truly perfection. The story, the romance, the characters, the politics and the sex scenes were so phenomenal that it all just clicked. I found myself just simply getting lost in the book. It is so magical when a book does that to you. Mr. President was a powerful and emotionally charged book that simply dripping with drama, sex and politics. I found myself so captivated and mesmerized with the American politics portrayed in Mr. President. It was hot as hell. Mr. President was seeping with so much light that I found myself smiling throughout the book.
Katy Evans is a wordsmith. I freaking loved her describing scenes in her books. I found myself being transported into the world of Matt and Charlotte and I loved every moment of it. I was swooning. I was laughing. I was sad. I almost cried. Mr. President gave me so much damn emotions. I thought I was going insane. That's what so awesome because Katy Evans gave us powerful writing that I feel like it deserved to be given a massive shoutout.
I loved the characters. They were so dynamic and prolific. Oh Charlotte was a heroine I simply adored. She was sassy, spunky, fun, caring, loving and loyal. She was a hard worker. I just loved her. She was one of those heroines I felt so comfortable. There was a balance to her strong side vs her vulnerable side. Katy Evans definitely nailed that. Max Hamiliton. My Max. I freaking loved him that he has joined my book boyfriend club. I was swooning. He was sexy, swoon worthy(oh I swooned hard for him), cocky without being a douche, alpha (le sigh), and just pretty much so amazing. Max and Charlotte had the perfect chemistry that I just could not help but fall in lovw with. It was real, quirky and their banter was off the charts amazing.
Mr. President was an amzing read. I cannot wait what happens next.

I am unsure as to why I didn't expect as much nationlism as I got but I really regret it!
Frustrated by the lack of complexity to the characters and storyline. There would be a glimpse of extra from time to time but it was not present throughout.
Probably closer to 3-1/2 stars, but I dunno... I just found myself rolling my eyes a lot. I mean, I long for the type of president Matt wanted to be. I *loved* that he wanted to be an independent and wouldn't cave to either major party. But Charlotte's almost hero-worship of him and her devotion to her country just seemed a bit over the top. Also, I'm still very confused about the timeframe. I thought when they met that Matt was in college. She was 10-almost-11. But when he's elected at 35, she's 22, which is a 13-year age difference. I suppose maybe Matt could have been in graduate school?? I dunno... it just struck me as weird. It was still a super sweet love story, even though they both had to hide it the entire time. At the end, things were sort of up in the air, so I had to dig into the second one...

Matthew Hamilton is political royalty. Son of the late President Hamilton, his blood runs red, white and blue. With the country lacking leadership, he decides now is his time steer his beloved country in a direction that holds true to the Hamilton's values.
At a mere thirty-five, he is the youngest candidate the country has seen. His decision to run independently make him a huge threat and target to his opposition. With the support of the voters and a solid campaign team, it seems the vote is his to loose.
Enter Charlotte Wells, daughter of Democrat Senator Wells, she is well versed in Washington's political scene. From a young age she has been enamoured by the Hamilton's and their legacy. When the opportunity presents itself, she jumps at the chance to be part of Matt's historical campaign.
Washington is abuzz with the fresh outlook Matt has to offer, along with that buzz an excitement that is replicated by the man himself. He's impossibly sexy, his unshakeable confidence and his steadfast values make him an attractive candidate in every sense of the word.
Matt and Charlotte's connection is impassioned and forbidden. I felt the intensity of their relationship and adore Katy's ability to give me as a reader a couple I wholeheartedly got behind. With Election Day within touching reach, it remains to be seen whether our couple go the distance.

There are fleeting touches and secret smiles that steals our heart. But does it have to be this long, there is hardly any story except the basic one? And the slow burn stopped at page 100.

I think I have a pretty good reading relationship with Katy's books. I have read three of the six books in the Real series, and all of the Manwhore series, and came away from those feeling like they were pretty good books. So, when Mr. President popped up out of the blue, I was game.
It's a great premise, and for the most part was a good story. Matt, the son of beloved former President of The United States, decides to throw his hat in the ring, and run for president. He is unsettled by the current candidates running on old platforms, and crazy ideas about how the country should be run. From his point of view the country needs change, and he feels he's the man to do it.
Charlotte is the daughter of Democratic Senator, and has no interest in throwing her hat into the political ring. She is more about helping others, those who are less fortunate, and need a little boost. It all changes for her when, Matt announces his candidacy. The boy she meet years ago, and crushed on throughout her teen years, is about to re-enter her world. She is approached by his campaign, and is asked to help his team win the Presidency. Can she suppress the old feelings from her childhood, and work on his campaign, without falling for him all over again?
The story is well told, giving the reader all the ins and outs of political campaign. I even appreciated how Matt and Charlotte come to know each again, after two brief meetings earlier in their lives. The whole full circle moment of their instant love for each other was an interesting. As with her other books, Katy gives Matt a wonderful visual description. He's an Alpha male, but with volume turned down a notch. He wants what he wants when he wants it, but doesn't tantrum to get what he wants. He just won't take no for answer.
I honestly have some mixed feelings about this book. I wasn't flipping cartwheels, and jumping up and down over this book. I wanted to love it, but I couldn't. Don't get me wrong, I liked it, but not how I had hoped I would.
There were so many of the same references to Matt's reactions to Charlotte (ie- humor in his eyes). I get that Matt is hot as hell. I don't need to hear about her sex clenching every time, he looked at her intensely. There were too many long sections of dialogue from Charlotte, talking about what a good man he is and how he is going to change the nation as a whole. I had a hard time with Matt's perception of the role as President. He is only looking at it from the standpoint of what he remembers from a nineteen year old perspective and his mother's point of view. I understand why he can't commit to Charlotte, but then again I don't In my opinion, he's being a moron. I realize this brings the angst to this story, and it most likely will play out in Commander in Chief.
The cliffhanger ending, leaves many questions unanswered. Honestly, after all I stated above, I still want to read Commander in Chief. I have to know how it works out for Matt and Charlotte.
